That's maybe how it works in US politics but not so in science and not so when you have a worldwide consensus.

The problem is that in the US you have rightly got so skeptical of politicians any time anyone says anything now you don't believe them unless it fits with what you would like.

That's why the Copenhagen summit fell apart. Hey why not change a few things like warming to climate change and run a different pattern. That way you can exploit the extreme winter weather. Since there is not real investigative reporting and news stories go to the highest bidder it's all about creating an illusion and making it real in people's minds. Hey the Federal Reserve has gotten away with fractional reserve banking since 1971. The rich have gotten richer so let's apply the model to climate issues. You can say anything you want with statistics. I always love it when a few later they say they misread the data. Whatever the hell that means.

The more alarmist something is the more you should question it. You would think people who got suckered into war and into bailing out banks that should have failed would learn.
