Up here in Cascadia, you can pretty much take a credit union card to their own machines or any other credit union's ATM and use it with no fees. 2/3 of them even take deposits, which is convenient when the closest physical branch of your CU is way on the other end of town. If they do things differently in AZ now, it must be a local thing (I'll blame Joe Arpaio just for the Hell of it)
As far as Chase goes, I avoid that corporation like I avoid Van Hagar cheese ballads, but I'm not surprised if they stopped charging fees on their own machines as a way of attracting business. And the retail corporations might be charging fees on their own, regardless of which card. But it's still pain in the ass fees that add up to somebody pocketing a shit load of money for doing nothing, really.
