Friend of mine I was in band with in the Tacoma area in 1978 had a Travis Bean guitar. He named his son Travis Marshall Trader, in honor of the guitar and the amp, lol.

All I know is that I couldn't stand that effect after Ed overused a sustainer.
Didn't think the Ebow was even in existence when Heroes was made...but then I read the first one was made in 1969...I'd always heard Robert Fripp was one of the first users of them, and he played on the Bowie Heroes sessions, so it's possible...

I kinda like the way Vai uses a sustainer, btw...

Fripp had all sorts of strange effects he'd developed over the years, which first came about when he was collaborating with Brian Eno. He referred to them as "Frippertronics", and made several albums with the devices, which were based on the use of reel to reel tape recorders. The results were either fascinating or repetitive doodling, depending on your tolerance for such things. You'll hear echos of "Heroes" in this piece (indicative of the three albums Fripp made with Bowie during the latter's Berlin period). For me, a little bit of this stuff goes a looong way, and spread over an entire album becomes tedious after more than 3 or 4 minutes.

          wiki on Fripp and Heroes:

In addition, King Crimson guitarist Robert Fripp generated an unusual sustained sound by allowing his guitar to feed back and sitting at different positions in the room to alter the pitch of the feedback.

Um, if it's so old no one in their US office recognizes it, quite possibly!

                    thanks for the effort.
I guess it was made in 1973 or 74 by Fujigen because it has no serial number and the tuning machines(old Gotoh) have stars.

effects had no problem. it was just a trouble of electrical contact.
and a dead PU was replaced. now I can play it!

The stars tuners came on around 76 as I recall, I liked the Velvetune ones with the knurled pinch-shaft on the side that pulled the slack from the gear how tight you liked it.

Those were pretty cool! Whatever happened to them - that's about the only original thing Ibanez ever came out with: the velvetune machine heads..
