“The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge.”― Stephen Hawking -
I always hate the first five seasons, because the Sam & Diane love story annoys me beyond belief, but Ted pulls it off beautifully & the rest of the jokes/cast are top notch.
From the sixth onwards is smooth sailing until halfway about the tenth season, where they were obviously hurting for even half-decent scripts, but the last season ends it with a homerun.
All in all, if the British approach had been taken, it would've been, without a doubt, the most solid series to ever grace the airwaves.
As it was it, was about 30-40% clunkers, but for over 200 episodes, it's a whole lot of divine moments & prime jokes. Definitely one of the best.

Yeah, "gee, it isn't really all warf's fault! It takes two to tango!" Oh, fuck you guys! We hadn't even been fighting. I never used his info before yesterday, and I come online at about 9:30pm to see some stuff on Egypt and maybe find some glorious tidbit regarding a new Van Halen album or something, and some asshole has been playing internet terrorist all day and completely coming at me with a bizarre rage I've never seen nor expected. I really don't give a fuck about that. But the fact that he seemed to be pissed that someone else had joined another site with a new username really seemed to piss him off for some reason...
I've never, not once "trolled" Rothchats. Not fucking once! This despite having my name autochanged and being banned for apparently never posting anything there. I even made a couple of innocuous posts the other day after reregistering hoping to bring things down a bit and increase the motherfucking peace, yo. I don't stalk people not only from thread-to-thread, but from site-to-site even when they change their usernames and stop posting at anything and even try to kiss his ass hoping he would drop his pyscho obsessive behaviors...
This all goes back to the same mentality during the relentless haranguing of Angel. Big man, big opinions from Imanottooparticularastoowhatsexualrogansilicker being "the voice of reason." FFS! It's like saying, "well, WWII wasn't really ALL Hitler's fault! The French were sorta being smelly!" Or, the "Holocaust wasn't all the Nazi's fault! Those Jewy Jews looked at them funny with their secret cabals."
Please, save the stilted, enabler logic lest you look like a bunch of Lord of the Flies motherfuckers! Where were the "voices of reason" last night, when it counted? cowards!
Here's your fucking conch back...
Kind of telling that most of the evil "blue man group" made themselves scarce this week and the negativity continued unabated. Blows the "it takes two to tango" argument out of the water. So anyone still asserting said blue man group or any of its alleged members was/is the problem is pretty much an idiot, in epic denial, or pushing an agenda. Y'know, like "running people off the site at whatever cost".
But hey, thanks to Team Butthurt for making "Loser" the 2nd most popular tune on my SoundCloud this week.Originally posted by conmee

Well, not what's about to happen, of course. I'm talking about how a series that is renowned for over-the-top raucous humour suddenly turns around & unexpectedly wrings your heartstrings in such an honest, candid manner.
I have never seen anything like it.
Funny thing is, when you REMEMBER it, it's meh. But when you watch it again, the ambience & the acting ALWAYS gets you. It's beautiful.
Of course, the whole episode leads up to it & it helps watching the other five first, so you know the characters well.

Who would have thunk it? vandy, Ima and me end up offering the most concise, thoughtful commentary in an entire thread, yet the actual posts have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the initial thrust of the subject. This, at least to me, is what the ROTH ARMY is all about.

Now, go watch Blackadder goes Forth. In three hours, you'll be bawling like a baby & thanking Vandy for bringing it up.

Vandy, what's your take on Last of the Summer Wine?
I know it's considered uncool because it's so much more conventional, but I do love Cleggy's unique insights on everything under the sun, Compo's antics & the beautiful setting.
A very relaxing series.

With Ronnie Barker? The best comedian in the history of mankind? The man that as soon as he appears on screen I'm already rolling in tears of laughter?
That Porridge? It's ok, I guess. BRILLIANTLY ok.
If it's got Ronnie Barker on it, it's g-g-g-g-g-g-old. That'll be 10p, please.
