steely dan! they are not a band...just a genius creative duo, but the musicians (especially guitarists) they've worked with, and their craftsmanship is unrivaled. larry carlton is amazing...who? find out...listen to kid charlemagne or anything off of "the royal scam"...completely different than VH, but very great stuff...love pantera too. not like the other heavy bands at all! i'm not a fan of other bands "like" VH, because i hate cock-rockers and arrogant pricks thinking their power chord rock songs are original...dave could walk it like he talked it, so CVH is not an empty cockrock band to me. VH seemed genuinely happy to rock out back in the day, and that's a big part of my love for them...oh yeah, the doors are the SHIT!!! alright!!
Lots of stuff. Metallica, Megadeth, Ozzy, Priest, Anthrax, Savatage, Maiden, DIO I could go on and on, shit there was heaps of great bands around after Dave's departure..
Lets not forget EEAS !!
All were miles better than Van Hagar
BABY PANA 2 IS Coming !! All across the land, let the love and beer flow ! Love ya Mary Frances!
Originally posted by Rikk METALLICA is fucking awesome. Did you see the film SOME KIND OF MONSTER yet? If you haven't, go pick it up right now, bro. It's amazing. VAN HALEN would never let cameras get anywhere near this close to them...
Originally posted by moose Was there really any good muzik after 1984, (not including Roth solo and Metallica) I can't think of one band that really turned my crank the way the Mighty VH did.
Metallica came close to giving me that VH feeling I missed. Espessially LIVE!!
They go Phukkin all-out live!!
I'm sure, If VH ever does a reunion, after I finish crying, and compose myself, everything I have seen live, will pale in comparison to The Mighty VH!!
AC/DC (Razors Edge)
Ozzy ( No More Tears)
Guns n Roses (appetite)
The Cult (Sonic Temple)
Lynch Mob (Wicked Sensation)
Alice in Chains (Facelift, Dirt)
After I thought about it for a while, I must say that Soundgarden, Alice in Chains were 2 bands that I really did enjoy listenin to. Janes Addiction was another cool band, oh and how the fuck can I forget "The Cult".
There really wasn't anyone around to replace The Mighty VanHalen. I listened to Priest, Accept and Scorpions but no band to this day has come along with the chemistry and charisma that DLR era VH had.
Originally posted by Carmine Raguzza. not yet, Rikk. I'm picking it up this weekend.

Originally posted by Carmine Raguzza. Lemme ask ya Rikk...is it safe to watch with my son...he digs Metallica too?
There's a LOT of swearing. But as far as I remember (and I've seen it twice...I love this film), no nudity or any content like that. Just a lot of swearing. It's actually a film with an excellent message...basically, it concentrates on dealing with your problems, beating alcoholism, being good to others... If you're cool with your son hearing swearing, the rest of it will be very good for him to see.
How old is he?
