You know, a good friend of mine and I have always believed that the lyrics for "Back in Black" were actually already written by Bon before he died, and that's why Back in Black was so good and the rest of the stuff they did from then on was just mediocre. I think they just gave the credit to Brian on the album in order to boost the public's acceptance of him.

"She was a fast machine, she kept her motor clean, she was the best damn woman that I'd ever seen" "tellin me no lies, knocking me out with those American thighs" "told me to cum but I was already there" I mean, to me, those lyrics just scream Bon. That was his style of writing, and it was truly unique.

If you think about it, Brian Johnson never wrote lyrics of that style or quality ever again. Mind you, Back in Black was the first AC/DC album I ever owned and I loved it, but upon later reflection, and after having become a musician and songwriter myself, I am suspicious as to whether Johnson ever actually wrote those lyrics which are just so "Bon-like" to me. Could it be a coincidence? Yeah I guess. But I haven't ever heard anything like the stellar lyrical prowess come from Brian Johnson since Back in Black was released.

I would agree also, that Back in Black's lyrics were classic AC/DC, almost as if Bon had already written most of it.

Whereas that style certainly changed and so did the quality.

I knew about the Malloy stuff, I know some guys that used to work with him. Oddly enough, I heard Glenn Hughes was basically "waiting on the plane ticket" as well. Hughes, Coverdale, it would've been like Coverdale/Page....high quality music, but ultimately forgettable.

Regarding all these Doors posts: Too bad Sammy didn't join The Doors after Montrose broke up!!!! Then all of these anti-Sam posts would be over on the Doors web pages now! Ha!

sorry dude brian johnson did in fact write all those lyrics,saw an interveiw with mutt lange on the 25th anniversary of the album ,mutt said brian was very gun shy when it came time to write the lyrics,also said the 1st song he wrote was hell's bell's ,mutt said the inspiration for the lyrics came to brian during a heavy rain+thunder storm,mutt also stated that bon died 1 day before he was to have his 1st serious writing session ,but he noted that bon had heard all the demoes and liked them all very much ,kinda sad considering the album does rock without bon ,only makes you wonder how badass it would have been with bon !!!

Yeah a friend of mine is working with Mitch occasionally nowadays. Mitch is playing guitar in a country artist's band (can't remember who offhand), and my friend runs FOH for them, and occasionally has them over to his house for rehearsals and stuff....perhaps one of these days I will get to meet Mitch and ask him about all that in person...

Died before he was to have his first serious writing session?? That doesn't mean anything. Any songwriter always has a lot, sometimes hundreds, of songs written that they've never put to music just laying around, especially a songwriter who has been at it for as many years as Bon had. And anyone can make up a good story for how they came to write a particular song, especially when asked to do so for a 25th anniversary special... ...and you say Mutt said it? Why wouldn't Brian be saying it? Maybe he has personal reasons why he doesn't want to be the one saying it(ie. doesn't want to lie?) I don't know, but the facts speak to me most clearly. The quality and the style of the lyrics changed after Brian started writing.
In my humble opinion, they had found enough of Bon's songs to do Back in Black, and then maybe a couple of songs on 'For those about to Rock', and after that, it was all Brians stuff and it was all pretty much forgettable.
