If you saw Dave on Leno and Ferguson did you really like the performance? Seriously? Did you really like it? I couldn't stand it. I'm a huge Roth fan, but I just can't stand hearing the classics butchered. Might as well do VH unplugged if your going to put up with bluegrass. And his voice. I just don't get what happend to it. The scream is gone. His "new" scream or whatever it is sounds aweful. He's trying to hit notes he can't hit. I think if he sang it like the album it would sound good, but he's trying to do too much with his voice. I loved how he would change the melododies here and there back in the day, but he just can't cut it anymore. I say stick with the way it was done on the albums...

i thought they were great for the setting and for him not being in his 20's anymore. and plus how much energy do you expect when the song you are playing has a banjo solo

What do you think of his voice? There's a lot of aging rockers that aren't in their 20's anymore, but that didn't seem to effect their voices to much.

next dave should gather with some high class blues musicians and do a van halen blues album with some other songs...his sound would sound perfect on that one...

i think dave's voice is fine its just his screams that he cant do anymore and he trys to now but it doesnt work out too well

it's funny you mention that. I was thinking Beautiful Girls would sound pretty damn cool in this blues style. Edward should be paying attention to what Dave is doing. It would be nice to know that Edward is scratching his head thinking hard about doing a final reunion and giving the fans EXACTLY what Dave has been giving us.

it was his nerves and automatic instinct to belt that tune out. But dude, he was a bit too loud for what the band was playing. Traditionally when you hear a blues tune, the music "speaks" not the singer...In this case Dave came out to high and loud. He did alot better than the last performance on Leno and looked more confident as the song carried on. The Craig Ferguson performance AND interview was great. He was confident and strong throughout.
The performace wasn't as loud (as Leno's) and it sounded more suited for the style.

I do hope that someone is checking up on Ed. Making sure he's not getting puke in his hair and shit. Then again he could always shave it all off again.
