Dave sings the "6-pack" songs just fine. I've seen him in 1999, 2002 and 2003, and he sounded solid. No, he didn't sound just like he did in the 80s, but anyone who says Dave is incapable of singing the old tunes is just plain full of shit and looking for attention. Not even worth mentioning names.

Van Halen, even with Roth on board, probably won't be able to reproduce the commercial heights they had coming off of 1984. Just not that kind of music scene anymore. Would probably be able to sell out a reunion tour of large-size arenas. Intermks of album sales, maybe a few million for an album of new material by the classic lineup.

What would be more interesting is to see what Roth and Eddie could come up with in terms of new music. Van Halen will never be irrelevant to me as long as I still have an interest in listening to their music, as opposed to Halen's level of popularity amongst the Britney Spears/Sum 41 demographic, which really is irrelevant. Halen's never gonna capture that target audience, so why bother trying or caring?

There's really nothing in what Eddie's released in the last twenty years that would lead me to believe he's capable of writing material on par with the classic Van Halen songs, regardless of Roth's presence. MWM and CGTSNM were an intriguing teaser, but I can picture a lot of the instrumental parts of those tunes on a Van Hagar album. I don't think Roth returning to the fold will make Eddie's style less soft by default.

Publicity? What is everyone on this site talking about. Seems like a pretty big topic to me. (the publicity will come for the next album which will be all new material featuring the original four members-and a return to some kick ass rock and roll). Reuniting with the frontman from both era's would get them the biggest following; advertising that would jinx them.. and it might fail like like last time. Plus, I heard a sampeling of the warm up bands they picked for this tour and it did not sound like wuss music to me... They Rock!

I reckon VH is fucked beyond redemption, and to be honest, I'm not sure I even care that much anymore. Dave was always what made them worth a shit, so if he keeps putting out stuff, I'll keep checking it out.

              No.

Van Halen augered in after years of inactivity, stupid press, and mediocre releases.

They ruined their only hope of a comeback with the aborted Dave reunion. They could have set the world on fire but they fucked up and hired yet another also-ran singer.

              Now, it's too late.

I think you already know the answer to this thread but let me try and help out.

                The answer is...NO!

Dave's last CD was released on Magna Carta Records???
                What the fuck is that?
Dave can't even repair his own career.
He needs VH they don't need him.

VH is touring once again without Dave.

This will be their 5th or 6th tour without DLR.

A Van Halen tour fronted by David Lee Roth is a thing of the past and will never happen again.

Yet the tour is selling poorly, I believe that at most shows decent seating is still availible. They've also dropped ticket prices and cancelled a show. Also, no-body gives a crap about it apart from you and cwsmith17. So they may be touring, but it could be a hell of a lot better with Dave taking charge. Tickets would sell a lot quicker and people would actually get exited about it.

Yes and Dave could only hope to sell as many tickets solo as VH are selling now.
Each of these shows will be sold out before the house lights are dimmed.
I'll be at the Worcester, MA show and if it's not jammed to the rafters I will tell you so.

Halen will be touring with Dave next year after this tour crashes and burns and Spammy starts whining again and splits with the little

Yup, I got your game, ya CLB. You're proably a HUGE Roth fan that manages this site, but just likes to 'keep it interesting' by talkin' some old shit, ones like we already seen.

Nice, not amazingly impressive, but nice.

Don't know about need, but Dave and the other three sure could use each other's company to mutually benefit everybody right about now.

VH post-Roth saw a steady decline in record sales, and this happened long before grunge got big (so much for the "Seattle scene killed off hard rock bands like Van Halen at the record stores" theory).

The split didn't really work out well for any of them in the long run. Diamond Dave is hardly my favorite Roth solo album, but he's still putting material out there and has been taking it to the stage on a regular basis since 1999.

The sisters and MA haven't done jack shit since 1999, and are now doing a Greatest Hits Van Hagar tour.

EVH and AVH are just lazy. Three albums of new material ready to go my ass.
