This was probably Warner Brothers putting it together...they have no clue, but only that they needed to do a complete Dave disk and a Spammy disk. Then the brothers stepped in, got pissed and changed everything and now it sucks even more.

        BAN THE BROTHERS!

If Disc 2 has live Spammy on those songs...we need to boycott this disc 2 release.

Firstly, where the fuck is Mean Street?

Secondly, they'll do Dancing In The Streets live and pretend they're playing proper Van Halen- that's why it's on there. They've got to play some real Van Halen to have any chance of saving this excuse for a tour and that's one thing Spudnuts will sing from a real Van Halen record. The funny thing is, if they do butcher just ONE Van Halen track, all those idiots at the Links will be pulling down their pants in celebration.

Thirdly, the whole record is a fucking joke. Who would buy this shit? I bet those live tracks are from RHRN. How did the Van Halen brothers ever fall so low?

Do the sisters really think that Sammy singing those tunes live is going to somehow lessen Dave's impact on the band's history. Give me a second please....

I agree that all of disc one should be dave...and you should have the option of purchasing the discs separately. Then we would see, wouldn't we.

I think actually WB was pretty smart commercially if those are live Dave tracks. The only way they could get die hard Dave fans to buy disc two would be if Dave stuff was on them. The same for disc one except for die hard Sammy fans. That would be the smart thing for them to do commercially to generate the most sales possible.

Even Dave said the new tunes from 2000 were in bad demo form and will never see the light of day. They would have had to bring Dave back in to finish them, and they are obviously not going to do that now that Sam is back in the band.

As for "Feels so Good", that is the song that typifies why I really don't like Van Hagar that much.

I'm not surprised that those tools over at the Links will gulp this set up like they gulp Ed's wad. What a fucking disgrace that those three live tracks are going to be Hagar singing.

Gary Cherone Erased From Van Halen History

It would appear Gary Cherone will not appear when The Very Best of Van Halen is released next month. The now 2CD set documents the entire Van Halen era minus the album Van Halen III featuring Gary Cherone as lead singer.

It is Van Halen's clearest message ever that the Cherone year was their biggest mistake.

What was initially going to be the Best of Van Halen Volume II has now been reformatted as The Very Best of Van Halen and captures the band chronologically over the 2CD set, much like The Eagles also portrayed on the recent double album The Very Best of The Eagles.

It is interesting to see which albums the VH boys qualify as their best work. While there are five songs from the first album and four each from 1984 and 5150 and OU812, 1981's Diver Down is only represented with one track.

Here is the complete track listing for The Very Best of Van Halen, due July through Warner Music.

                      Disc 1
                      'Eruption', (from Van Halen, 1978)
'Ain't Talkin' 'bout Love', (from Van Halen, 1978)
'You Really Got Me', (from Van Halen, 1978)
'Jamie's Cryin', (from Van Halen, 1978)
'Runnin' With the Devil', (from Van Halen, 1978)
'Beautiful Girls', (from Van Halen II, 1979)
'Dance The Night Away', (from Van Halen II, 1979)
'And the Cradle Will Rock...', (from Women and Children First, 1980)
'Everybody Wants Some!!', (from Women and Children First, 1980)
                      'Unchained', (from Fair Warning, 1981)
'Dancing In The Street', (from Diver Down, 1982)
'(Oh) Pretty Woman', (from Diver Down, 1982)
'Hot For Teacher', (from 1984, 1984)
                      'Jump', (from 1984, 1984)
                      'Panama', (from 1984, 1984)
                      'I'll Wait', (from 1984, 1984)
'Why Can't This Be Love', (from 5150, 1986)
                      'Dreams', (from 5150, 1986)
'Best of Both Worlds', (from 5150, 1986)
'Love Walks In'. (from 5150, 1986)

                      Disc 2
                      'When It's Love', (from OU812, 1988)
'Finish What Ya Started', (from OU812, 1988)
'Feels So Good', (from OU812, 1988)
'Black and Blue', (from OU812, 1988)
'Poundcake', (from For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, 1991)
'Runaround', (from For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, 1991)
'Right Now', (from For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, 1991)
'Top Of The World', (from For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, 1991)
'Can't Stop Lovin' You', (from Balance, 1995)
                      'Not Enough', (from Balance, 1995)
                      'It's About Time' (new),
                      'Learning To See' (new)',
                      'Up For Breakfast' (new)',
'Ain't Talkin' 'bout Love' (Live), (from Right Here, Right Now, 1993)
'Jump' (Live), (from Right Here, Right Now, 1993)
'Panama' (Live) (from Right Here, Right Now, 1993)

Looks like WB went for the novelty of Sam singing Daves songs.
"Can't you hear Jamies cryin? Shes runnin with the Devil oh nooooo!!! oh no!

I have my fingers crossed that those live tracks are DAVE!!
The only hint/clue that they might not be Sammy is that chronologically the Right Here/Right Now songs should come after FUCK and before Balance.
These live tracks are tacked on the end??
Maybe they are vintage live Dave tracks.
IMHO: if those are Sammy live tracks that is a stupid move by WB.
I would rather have 2 Gary tracks instead to preserve the history of the band.

Neither were hits but both released as singles. I think B&B did pretty well on rock radio as it was the first thing released from OU812.

What happened to the real general hina? This is the second time Ive agreed with you. Im worried.

question: Why are there going to be songs on BOV2 that were already on BOV1? Whats the point?

question: Why are they putting Dancing in the streets on the BOV2, when the entire band hated that song...except for Dave?

question: Why wouldn't WB insist on separating the discs into 2 different eras? Disc 1 all dave. Disc 2 all sammy. Then sell them separately, just to show the bros. who the REAL lead singer of that group is.

question: If this band is going to go down as one of the greates rock n roll bands of all time, why do we need to ask so many fucking questions?

extra bonus question: If Def Leppard can put out an all cover album from the 70's era and it sells, then why is Dave having so much trouble and getting so much flack for his Diamond Dave cd?
"FUCK YOU, YOU FUCKIN' BITCH! WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE ANYWAYS? TALK TO ME LIKE THAT? FUCK YOU. DRAG QUEEN LOOKIN' WHORE- YOU AINT SHIT. YOUR THE FRECKLE TO THE LEFT OF MY BROWN EYE. NOW GO MAKE YOURSELF USEFUL...OH, PUT DAD ON THE PHONE"
