Re: OK.. Who owns the entire "Van Halen" catalog?
Originally posted by c5150b OK Guys! We know who we love and who we hate but I just want to know who has the balls to say they bought and paid for some Spam albums when he was with Van Hagar? I know I'm guilty because of my homage to EVH..but did I do it to help get them the record sales while Sam was in the group because of Sam...Hell NO I did it because I was a EVH fan. I'm sure there's some other guilty ones just the same. So us TRUE CHV fans may be responsible for the success of Sammy with Van Halen just because we were fans of EVH and it had nothing to do with Spammy's influence. So how does that weigh in the record sales of Dave vs. Spam? Are we Guilty?
I own it all (warts and all). Why? because at the time I felt betrayed by DLR for "QUITTING" Van Halen. My attitude then was Fuck You Dave! And "David Lee Who?"

God willin’, and the creek don’t run dry, just like Grandma Roth used to say. Barring any act of God or Ferrari…yeah. I have hope and faith, and that’s more than just the name of a couple of strippers from Albequerque.

i) 5150 sounds and looks astonishingly dated in 2006. Everything from the cheesy synth drum sound to the packaging. The only 2 decent songs on it are 5150 and Summer Nights (although the studio version of SN's production is horrid- if you can stomach Gaygar, check out the live version on LWAN- Eddie plays one of the most amazing solos you're ever likely to hear.
5150 sounded bad at the time, and hasn't gotten any better with age, but agreed that musically the title track is easily one of the better ideas Ed came up with after Dave left, and the live version on LWAN is astonishing.
i only have the six pack, but i have two VH1 because i stumbled across one that was written in all japanese and though it would be a great add to the collection along with vh2 diver down and 1984 and crazy from the heat on vinyl
R.I.P Van Halen 1978-1984
