I'm surprised you are not down in the Gerta T. Schwartz wing at the Lakeview Terrace Retirement Community playing Bingo or Marjon with the nice ladies.
Originally posted by Plexi Head That is the smartest thing Hagar has ever said. After waiting for this to happen for almost 25 fucking years they dump the bass player. Fucking christ. Listened to some old boots today and like it or not Mike is crucial to the sound. The simplicity and groove that he played with can't be underestimated and the vocals go without saying. So much for being a team player.
More than that, even on the last tour, Mike was the showman, the only guy to really connect with the audience. It aint CVH without him no matter what spin anyone wants to put on it.
There ya go man, that's the truth.
Well at least I know I saved some money this summer. This abortion will be right up there with the 2004 tour.
Originally posted by Rikk Yeah, but if another original member can be excluded because of Ed's super-inflated ego and complete lack of respect to the band's legacy, how have things really changed?
Mike and Sam are out. Dave and Wolf are in... After watching the excrutiating 2007 NAMM videos, I bet Dave is thinking there isn't much time left.
Originally posted by nutts You never know, Wolfboy could be a catalyst for Ed invitting Roth back.
" Dad, don't listen to uncle Al, Cheddar sux!". Maybe.
Been on these boards since the time Gary left/booted. I've been thru 100's of rumors and hopes. I've given up and gotten excited all over again only to be let down. I've KNOWN they were trying to get back together, only to have it all blow up, then follow it with an anti-climactic tour with Hagar. Seen lots of Roth shows, closing my eyes wishing it was the whole band.
Now I start to think once again that I'm positive something is in the works, and the reason that Mike, the one guy you thought would be there because above all, he loves being in Van Halen and is grateful for everything it's given him, can't be in because he dared to go out and play some songs with Sammy and keep the VH name out there as something beyond a bastardized soap opera put to music, and it cost him his job.
They put out a second greatest hits album out of 3 releases and put Sammy singing 3 live Dave songs on it to spite Dave, and then kick Mike out and go tour with Dave to spite Mike. It just doesn't make sense to the common fan that just wants them to go out and play for God's sake.
Don't stick me with a newcomer, no matter who his parent's are, to make a point with another 50-something year old man. I'm sure he can play, but am I going to the concert to hear Mike put on a virtuoso performance? Hell no. I'm going to see Van Halen. And it ain't VH without Dave, Eddie, Alex, and Mike.
