Dave is the only reason sammy is being inducted. And, If it wasn't for Dave, I dont think any of them would be. Imagine VH from the very beginning without Dave. I think they would of been a good band with an amazing, groundbreaking guitarist, but nothing close to what they did become. Dave was the quarterback, and the greatest frontman ever, period. Sam's not even in his league. He's just a lucky fuck who shared the same mechanic as Eddie Van Halen. Enough said.

The sales prove that Sam was NOWHERE NEAR as popular as Dave. It proves that people don't like Hagar as much. Of course 5150 sold well, it was the follow up to 1984, the fact that the album sales went passed the million mark could be put down to the fact that Hagar's fanbase (2 words which don't look right together) were buying the albums, as well as people who wanted to hear Eddie play guitar. There were about 500,000 of the latter, cos they bought VHIII as well.

So what if they sold SOME records? They never did with Hagar like they did with Roth. They appealed to a broader audience, sure - cheese-ass, mediocre, pedestrian, corporate rock and roll with a safe product that never pushed the envelope one fucking bit.
