So he had a moment of clarity (probably once again brought on by his son). Who really gives a fuck how much time it took as long as he was still breathing and able to do it. I'm fucking tired of the "timing" comments. There's not a fucking doubt in my mind that Dave would prefer Eddie to get healthy and be able to write music and tour again than to attend a fucking sham of an induction. As someone said in another thread, Dave, Ed & Alex not attending looks more like "good old rock 'n roll rebellion" than anything. I have bashed Eddie as bad as anyone on these boards for years; but I'll also be the first to admit that this is terrific news - so long as Eddie actually follows through with his commitment to sobriety. The fact that he chose to admit publically that he has a problem is a huge step in the right direction. If a DLR/EVH collaboration is to happen in the future, I want it to happen because they have something new and fresh to offer and can do it with all cylinders firing.
In Eddie's current state, we were going to get nothing more than a fading nostalgia act. I don't think we'll see a tour anytime soon; Ed really needs to focus on getting himself healthy at this point. I do think that a new studio album before the end of 2007 is not out of the question though; and I look forward to hearing what a sober and creative EVH can come up with - it will sure as hell be 100 times better than anything we have heard in the past 10 years.
Fuck the RRHOF and fuck any reunion tours; his health has to come first.

Like many others here, I accepted the fact YEARS ago that a reunion tour probably would never happen anyway. Granted I was always hopeful. I've been a fan since 1981 and am grateful that I was able to see CVH in all their glory perform 3 times. However, Eddie finally admitting "a problem" now speaks volumes and the "timing" shit just takes a back seat to everything. I believe that with his admission good things will follow.I like to pay close attention to the things I'll forget later...Comment

You guys are right. . . . and I'm glad he's getting help. . .I'm just frustrated with the dick-teasing of Dave being in the band. I've been a die-hard fan for years, and I've never had the privilidge of seeing the original 4. I thought for sure they'd tour this year and take advantage of the hype. My biggest fear is after Eddie's rehab they'll bring out a new singer, and say they couldn't get Dave to commit to the band/some shit like this. Every time Dave is "supposidly" in the band we get this little kiss on the dick instead of a full hummer. I've just about had it. . . .Comment

I agree with you on most of this because with this band you never know and your fears are legit. However, the difference this time around is everyone has insisted there is no "inner strife" with the current band. There's no finger pointing.
