I still don't believe this. After all of the country fuckers who have been arrested, and what not that play or endorse Peavey, do you really think they're going to drop someone like EVH? Get real....the Wolfgang is their top of the line guitar, and the 5150 series amp is probably their best seller of all time. Hartley will put up with a lot just to keep that name on his equipment. Like Eddie or not, he is a living guitar legend, and even in this day of no guitar solos he's still a big name. Big name endorsement = dollars in pocket. IF Peavey did drop him, think about the damage he could do to them by badmouthing them in guitar mag interviews, they will not risk that.

I agree with Brownsound1, why would you drop EVH on the eve of a tour ?? That would be one fucked up business decision. I hope he stays with Peavey, the Spamsters dont deserve the Marshall tone..

              Panamark & Brownstone1:

              1. The math doesn't work on this deal anymore for Peavey, and Eddie has f--ked Peavey for the last time, i.e. the damn guy has not delivered on 3 contractual commitments now to them. Second, unless EVH comes out on this Tour and makes a massive reversal of what we have seen to-date, his Touring career is over. No major promoter will touch that guy again. Just ask Ozzy after his 2001 Merry Mayhem Tour went into the dumper and CCC lost their arse on it. The print media willn’t be spending any ink on EVH either if this Tour goes down the lue. Peavey shoved over $30 million in that special plant to build Wolfgang guitars and they have got to start producing other specialty guitars out of it because of the maturing of the Wolfgang series and EVH reneging on commitments.

              2. You two re-read the second paragraph of my introductory post on this subject. That strike you two as more than a little strange. Second EVH is madder than hell wolfs over Peavey’s total silence on the Van Spammy Tour and over this Peavey/Satriani deal. You see Peavey backing down?......hell no. I agree, Peavey willn’t do anything stupid publically re parting company with the drunken bum. They will just keep doing the same thing they have been doing to EVH since late last year.

              3. The EVH Wolfgang Series is a club guitar, not a serious Touring pro guitar like a Les Paul for example. This makes the math on the deal very different. I’m not saying it’s not a great ax, because it is, but list for me the serious/money making Touring pros using it and pitching it in the guitar rags. Second the 5150 is a good head, but the profit margins are quite thin on it.

              Just my thoughts..............

                Gslinger,

I assume you are referring to this:

"You will notice that Peavey has not endorsed or made any public comments on the Van Halen 2004 Tour, and my understand is that none will be forth coming. This stuck many insiders as strange, and further underlined that Peavey was dumping Eddie and litigation was forth coming. Eddie has to contractually play his EVH Wolfgang Series Guitars for this Tour. In theory, Eddie touring again, with his Peavey guitars, increases the value of existing guitars in the market and would increase new sales, which have been declining. Guess Peavey knew what the rest of the world now knows, after that brilliant “It’s About Time” release,…Eddie is washed up and can’t play. There also rumors that Eddie is going to use some of his Frankenstrait guitars on the Tour as the guy needs all the “show” help he can get."

I agree with a lot of what you are saying and Im not disputing that it has some truth behind it. Only the timing. If you had posted this the week after last years NAMM, I would have said fucken oath ! EVH is gone ! But he wasnt, and he is still there now. On the eve of a tour its highly unlikely, however it wouldnt surprise me if they parted ways after the tour, if this tour continues to under-perform. (Saleswise)

Anybody know when his contract runs out?

Seems to me they would ride it out, salvaging whatever they can while keeping it kind of on the down low, then simply not renew with him.

Kramer, Music Man, Peavey.......to my ears, the best sound Ed ever got was through the custom jobs he made himself, with his signal sent through the homemade MXR-loaded pedal board out to his Variac-altered Marshalls.

His live sound with Sam Halen and Van Cherone was adequate, but his recorded sound turned to a mid-tone slush with the release of 5150.

Friend of mine had a strat-style Kramer with a stock double-humbucker in the bridge position in the mid-1980s. Sounded ok. That was when you could get a decent axe for under $1,000.

                            Concur!

For the Van Spammy Tour, “hear” Eddie wants to go back to Marshalls and pull out some of his FrankenStrats in that the guy needs all the “show help” he can get right now. Of course, Peavey will probably file an injunction in L.A. County Court, but what the hell. Eddie blamed Peavey’s attorneys for destroying the Dave VH Reunion, in the same breath he was blaming Dave personally.

Got to admit EVH's Marshall racks and all the gear is impressive looking in this early ’96 pic.

Well at the 6/1/04 VH Dress Rehearsal, Eddie was using all Peavey equipment except for one Kramer guitar I saw in watching the video. Guess it's:
