    Stern had 12 million listeners before going to Sirius. Of those 6 million on Sirius, approximately 58% listen to Stern daily. Like it or not, his listenership went way down, but his income went way up.

          Plexi knows this story already - he was one of the first to comment on it.

          It's pretty amazing how fast this story has traveled and where!

          It's now decaying slowly in the Sheep Pen where all things that start out with good intentions end up with one bad apple spoils the bunch. It finally lost mileage.... just in time for the new Stern/EVH rumor.

            And he still found a reason to whine about it...probably because, now that he has the ability to do anything on air he likes, he has nothing else to whine about.

            Bah, fuck that satellite radio bullshit. I just plug in my MP3 player and I'm a happy camper for any duration of drive...

              1) Anal Thrust (aka Venom Thrust) says Tour is still on.

              2) The Fag (aka The Guy) says no tour for 07, but new album for early 08.

              3) Jackedup (from DDLR.com) says he met Alex in a deli and that the tour is still on and that Mike is still OUT.

              Take your pick. :D

                  Spot on!

                  On all counts!

                  Stern was a lot funnier when he had to operate within some constraints. The things he couldn't say were even funnier when you had to imagine what it was he was thinking.

                    Or, in the case of the three you mentioned, it's more like "take your PRICK."

                      When you get right down to it, an MP3 player is the better bet.

                      1 - you still don't have commercial interruptions;
                      2 - you KNOW damn well what you want to hear is there;
                      3 - you never have to pay for it outside of the original investment;
                      4 - news & sports updates? still there on AM radio, 24/7...

                      Nobody has been able to make a convincing argument to me yet as to why I should invest in satellite radio...

                      ...or Howard Stern for that matter...

                        The times that I did listen to him (which was erratic and only when the mood struck), that was really the appeal...listening to him get pissy about what he couldn't do on air due to FCC regulations...

                        Remove that and there's just simply no appeal, not for me anyway...and when there wasn't much appeal in Howard Stern to begin with (at least as far as I was concerned), well...the math was evident...

                          I think that's the most optimistic we can be.

                            I say that they release a new CD and then they start a tour that they can't finish.

                              To answer;

                              1. Sattelite has no commercial interuptions, except the 1 minute an hour I've heard on Stern's show, or the feeds from terrestrial radio.

                              2. I like suprises, also more variety.

                              3.Wish I could say the same for cable TV or sattelite TV.What's the difference? Less ads.

                              4. I love static and 5 minutes of ads every 5 minutes.

                              It's all a matter of choice. I chose to roll with it because I can silence the rugrats with Kidstuff, blast the hard shit with HardAttack, travel down memory lane with a wide variety of 50's, 60's or 70's tunes, Get all geeky with HairNation, NOT LISTEN to Rush, Hannity, or the other shills from lack of choices, and of course, Howard and Bubba, who appears to be funnier lately.

                              Next year look for the costs to decline after the merger, there will be no need for duplicate formats. The best will stay and the weaker programs will be dropped. And ALL sports will be broadcast as opposed to only the ones bought by Sirius or XM. NASCAR, baseball, football, B-ball, hockey,whatever team you like without blackouts or programming restrictions for non-area teams.

                              There's something nice about not having to adjust your tuner once you're out of range from the terrestrial signals when driving down the road. I don't understand how HD radio can work if you leave the area and the next station doesn't have an HD signal. It baffles me. Still they relentlessly plug these things like there's nothing better.

                              WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY off topic...

                                I have Sirius. I don't like the annoying cluleless DJ's who many times talk over intros to songs. If I am going to pay to listen to music, I don't want a DJ talking during the song. I can get this sort of BS for free on FM. Also, when I first got Sirius I thought it was really cool because they played alot of cool rock that you don't hear on the radio anymore but after a while I noticed that they play the same bunch of songs over and over. When I listen to Buzzsaw I really don't need to hear In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida everyday.
