Roth is the only singer for VH, but he also shares part of the blame for their demise. Why does he get a free pass on here?

        Pete's Brother is absolutely correct.
Dave bailed, and the crap about Ed not wanting to tour or sitting on his ass is complete bullshit.
From 78-84, all they did was record & tour.
I don't think it was out of line for Ed to recharge the batteries a bit, seeing as they all would ask him, "So, what have you got?"
Dave's "Crazy from the ego" EP was a few covers that got him attention because of the VH connection & the MTV vids they played 24/7.
Dave is a very smart man, but dumping the band after '84 was boneheaded.
Without Ed, he didn't have any songs.
And Vai's take on VH style songwriting (see 'Going Crazy' and 'Yankee Rose') was as sackless as anything on 5150.

My point is why slam Ed repeatedly if he is a huge component of your favorite band?

I wouldn't call it a -Free Pass- this is not CVH dot. This is(see above)^

There are hundreds of threads around here Talkin' Roth This, Roth That.Could'a been Better. This and That.

Read the Front Page read the -Army Creed-, it ain't about VH. It is about -Roth Fronting- one of the Greatest Rock Bands in the Game.

                    Look around Boy Geenyis.

Another theory is, Ed without Dave would have been another -studio great- without a concert live date, in his history at all.

These type of threads are all over the place, your take E78,
is lame an a couple years, too late.

I think it was a great duo, without each other, wouldn't have been even close, to what was..

                      What it was ?

                      What it could be?

I cannot speak for the rest, but you must lean towards -Guitar- for your happiness.

I lean on lead singers Roth ,Sinatra, Tom Jones,Deano,Frankie Valley,
Rod Stewart, any cat who -FRONTS- the -SHOW-.

Singers , not background musicians. Not that they play less of a part, i'm all about the -words and the delivery- ,First Last and Always.

                      What's a -Band Without- a poet.

Muzakk.?More than likely -the Hagar years- a ship without direction.

Waste of -Red Rokkin- for me, his voice is not my style, or a dog call.

Ed should have begged for Daves return is how i see the "84" sitch.

23 years of Ed on lead with a decent rythm section. I couldn't even bring myself to dial out the vocal .

Bullsh!t in it's waste of Fine young talent.Ed Mike &Alex.

                      But, -What's- confusin you?

The anger towards Ed tends to be more directed at his poor character ,addictions, denial of CVH(until recently) and his blatant inability to lead VH.... All factors of Van Halen's irrelevance to the music public of today.
He's an extremely disfuntional knucklehead who has run a legacy into the ground.

Once upon a time this dude used to make the greatest rock music on the planet. They would be as huge today as U2 had they kept Dave in '96

the reason Ed is slammed is because he has made a mockery of VH...Dave has tried to get back together, but Ed and Al act like they can put anybody out front of VH and be sucessful ....of course thats just not the case....DLR is the only front man for VH.....period!!! once Ed wakes up and realizes this, maybe he wont get ragged on so much!

Try not to be too hard on eddie78 people.he seriously is quite slow and has had all of these things explained to him many times over.eddie can do no wrong in his eyes.he cant seem to grasp reality.

Eddie's fame in all seriousness came from doing cover songs.songs which Dave picked.

now back to the mall, boy!!

Birdshitmaple, judging by your utter lack of writing skills, i'd say you probablly work in the mall, as well.
Maybe Burger King, or something less complex in the food court.
And your idiocy has become redundant!
VH was only popular due to Dave's choice in cover tunes...hmm.
I'd say that's a huge insult to all the fans of Diamond era VH, as well as all the folks that made "ain't talkin' bout love," "Dance the night away," "Jump," etc, etc, etc. huge hits on radio & beyond.
...And maple why must you stalk me like a little retarded puppy dog, everywhere i go?
First it was the classic VH board, now it's here.
You know nothing about VH, yet you ty so hard to be one of the followers.
Go back to the Kramer forums where ya belong & i'll hit up classic VH.com when it gets back up.
But, please, stop shadowing me on every damn board, already.
