It was a necessary evil, to keep the VH logo from being slapped on the side of a hot sauce or tequila bottle to assist sales. Up until 04', that would have been completely legal.

I know I'm in the minority, but I think it was simply a business decision....not done out of spite, as most people assume.

At some point in the last 10 years, someone got in Ed's ear and convinced him that he was being taken advantage of, and he should start locking up these kinds of loose ends.......my guess would be Ray Daniels.

It would not have been a legal right. The band owns / owned the VH logo. Mike Anthony, if in the band, would have NO RIGHT to use it outside the band.

Where do you people come up with this stuff?

Even Zahzoo knows better than this.

Then I don't get why there was anything to sign over...If Mike and Sam were both simply hired employees for the 04' tour and couldn't use the logos/trademarks outside of the band anyway, then why would there be issue with having to sign them over.........it sounds like they didn't have rights to them in the 1st place.

Michael Anthony is no longer listed as a songwriter on any of the 1984 stuff according to ASCAP. Now, if I go dig up my old guitar tab book of 1984 it has old Mikey listed as a songwriter. Gee, I guess someone SIGNED AWAY THEIR FUCKING RIGHTS. Ed and Al couldn't just take his name off without his consent.

          Now back to Dave....

Listen, Roth had those fuckers by the short hairs. Ed and Al have to eat, and they knew that singer number 4 wasn't going to go with what fan base they had left. I'll guarantee you that Dave had things his way for the most part. After getting fucked by them in '96 I'll guaran-fucking-tee you that he got shit the way he wanted it.

The Van Halen corporation owns the logos. Just because someone is or was a shareholder in the corporation, doesn't mean they can use the logo whenever and wherever. Imagine owning Nike stock and then using the Nike logo in something you have going on the side. It doesn't fly.

The logo issue has nothing to do with anything; allegedly, Eddie and Alex were pissed about MA using the VH name to hawk his sauce, whether its true or not.

Now, if it is true, I can't say I blame EVH or his sister. But they're still both douchebags. But legally, they are correct (if it happened).

                BINGO.

Except a fucking know-it-all like Zahzoo is going to try and tell you otherwise, cuz he's a know-it-all.

I forget where, but I recall it was Dave who insisted everyone get equal billing. That's right, big bad Dave (but Mikey is "the nice guy")

Mikey should be forever indebted to DKLR, cuz othersise he'd be selling pencils in a parking lot.

But he is using the logo. Plus, he's using the Van Halen music. (Not to mention a pretty funny WB logo with Eddie and Dave on it.

But in the middle of the page, there are rotating photos of him and his band. Funnily enough, the lead singer is blonde wearing hats, bandannas, and ripped spandex. Then his lead guitar is playing a red, white and black guitar and some red and white striped coveralls...hmm....

Is he using the logo to make money? That is the question.

Besides Eddie and Alex being assholes, maybe that's one of the reasons he's not in the band anymore.

Interesting MA quote: Ed, Alex and myself are the "Core of Van Halen"

                          or

"We're looking for an unknown singer" (to front the band)

I presented this 6 months ago

Mike: Oh no... I told them I didn't want to work with Dave and I wouldn't wanna tour with him.

Mike:It was kind of hard at first because musically we're pretty much evolved a lot more than Dave did

Mike:We had a meeting with Dave. It's funny because he was very humble.

Bassplayer's shit talking even went on to spammy
Mike: What it came down to is that he doesn't want to work

Yup...there are those who think he's the innocent one...the friendly guy, ...the one who got walked over....

Bassplayer has spoken, but it seems that some have turned a blind's eye to the fact that he has ragged on his fellow bandmates without anyone twisting his arm. He obviously has opinions about everyone - depending on which way the wind blows.

and yes, it was Dave who ALWAYS divided up the money they made (from the time they played the Hollywood Clubs) equally...it's in the book (CFTH).

                              Thanks, jgdrag....interesting read.
