You Just Want another Excuse for Boos and Smokes
"It's just not an option for me to go and watch some other band — who are only performing because they have some new record coming out — do our music," Roth said. "I have nothing against Velvet Revolver — I'm not familiar with their music — but that was my 3 minutes and 22 seconds up there."

VHIII reflected a self-serving, indulgent effort on EDDIE's part in a pathetic attempt to make the next Led Zeppelin IV. But at least, despite the crappy motives, he was trying.
I have yet to listen to "Breakfast" as it's called now (sort of like how Marty DiBergi referred to Spinal Tap as merely 'Tap') but on It's About Time, it didn't sound like anyone in that band was trying.
What I find rich was Eddie's comment that he doesn't want to do a nostalgia tour. Well what the fuck is this? Does he really believe that these new songs are progress, pushing the envelope, and going in different directions? I think another layer of irony is that now that he is resorting to a nostalgia tour he's not even doing THAT right!
Up for Breakfast? More like I'm gonna Upchuck my Lunch.....
Diamond Mafia Forever - 4. To restore fullbug to the prominent place in this board, after various serious attacks by hitch1969 have now damaged his reputation and now is reguarded as a "Retarded, Stoned, Canadian, Dog finger bangin' fuckup"
My take... Sappy lyrics but no version of VH is exempt from silly shit in the lyrics. I had to chuckle at the lyrics.
Musically... I like the tune!! It's got a decent structure and doesn't have the oddball bridge crap Ed has developed a knack for. The base riff is simple but has some hooks. The one thing I like about it is I can hear Michael's bass playing all over it. Ed may have written the bass lines but it's definately Michael playing and his shit is upfront rather than buried in the mix. Appears Ed is still drawing from history for his solos... for a die hard that's not real interesting but I have to remind myself... there ain't anyone close to Ed's style churning out music these days.
Flame if you want but I like the music and yes the lyrics are silly and senseless... par for the course. It's rock n roll...
"If you want to be a monk... you gotta cook a lot of rice...”
Why do I even bother?!?! I had to throw VHIII in just to wash my ears out... seriously, I MISS GARY CHERONE!!!!!! As folks are saying here, at least Gary and Ed were TRYING to make something good... fook it... for anyone who thought it couldn't get worse than VHIII (which is better than Balance, even), just listen to It's About Time or Up For Breakfast... christ almighty the lyrics are HORRIBLE!!!! This is the absolute WORST two songs by Ed, period. I'm not even going to bother with Learning To Pee....
The actually music has potential, something DLR could definitely have salvaged, but the songs sound like an audio Photoshop cut-n-paste session... pathetic.
BRING BACK GARY!!! BRING BACK GARY!!!! I'd rather have Year To The Day, Ballot or the Bullet, hell JOSEPHINA and HMSI, than this garbage...
This shit took 6 years to make. Who remembers that band Van Halen who used to go into a studio, set up as a live band and knock out the most phenomenal records in minimum time?
