I am convinced, after personally dealing with alcoholics, that much of the trouble between Eddie and Dave came from Eddie's drinking problems. His highly irrational behavior and statments made over the years are text-book alcoholic. Couple that with being surrounded by Dave-haters and his decisions make perfect sense. IMO, the future of VH (Tour(s), potential album) hinges on Ed's ability to stay away from the bottle.

What I gather from comments made when Ed was in rehab is that Dave was very supportive and understanding (I believe Alex said something along those lines). I think some people have a problem separating Mr. Roth from the Diamond Dave persona. Hopefully we are old and wise enough to know that, at least part, of Diamond Dave is an act (which BTW is an act I love and have paid plenty of money over the years to be entertained by). I have always believed that Roth was the brains behind the commercial success of VH and that Ed was the musical genius. Having said that, I do not think Dave will do anything that will jeapordize Ed's sobriety, and not just because he wants to continue to make money with the band, but because he is a descent person.

Personally, I doubt that Dave will do his JD routine, but if he does, you can bet the bank that he has discussed it with Ed first to make sure it would not be a problem.
Well said... I really believe Ed when he refers to Dave as his brother, even though Dave can be a little over the top sometimes, his support and willingness to delay the reunion tells me Dave had Ed's best interest in mind. You know... I'm starting to believe that the ice may have been broken druing Ed's cancer scare a few years ago. I thought Dave's message to Ed on his website was heartfelt and sincere...

Actually I think that Dave dropping the "Jack attack" on his own solo tour was a preface for what was waiting in the wings.

I'd like to think that the recording equipment that Dave had set up was being piped back to Howdy Doody Mountain for approval.

Not that Dave needs Edward's approval, but for so long I actually believe that the Van Halen's have bought into the lie that Dave's vocals couldn't handle the task at hand.

Those of us here on this site know the opposite to be true. Dave had ALWAYS been ripe for the chance to front Van Halen AGAIN. Its been the Van Halen's that needed to heal thine self.

Here's to a great show and I hope to many more!

No, I'm not saying there shouldn't be drinking on stage.

I'm saying how will they handle it, because if everyone else on stage drinks, Wolfie is going want to drink too and he legally can't drink.

Somewhere here I have the larger version of DAVE giving the ol' sprinkle to a few ROTH ARMY people! Don't think that will happen this time unless he does like the ringpost devils and sprays it out into the $500 seats!

This is why VH with Wolfie on bass loses a bit of Rock N Roll credibility here.

                                Very Rock n Roll NOT!
