        To me, I'll Wait is kinda subdued and meek, certainly in comparison to most of the other CVH tunes. Have always felt that way since the day I scooped up 1984 on vinyl many years ago; in many ways, it doesn't even sit well alongside the other tunes on the 1984 album, much less with the rest of the CVH catalog.

        Still rings of the transition of the band from the harder-edged tunes of VH through Fair Warning to a gradual shift that began with Diver Down, where they slowly moved towards a sound that was less hard rock and more...er, 'top-40 radio friendly'. Obviously they made a quantum leap in that direction once Hagar joined the band and began cribbing lyrics from Hallmark cards, but the seeds were there even before Dave left, and I'll Wait is a case in point.
        Scramby eggs and bacon.
