Pretty close to the only known proshot live footage of the 1984 tour sadly...

But there's bound to be quite a bit in Ed's vault...
It was a shortened set since VH were not the headlining act that day, just an hour or so.

6 bands played in an incredible lineup, one of the best ever AC/DC, Van Halen, Ozzy Osbourne, Gary Moore, Y&T, Accept, Motley Crue

I was too young to travel to England to see it but I did listen to every act which was pro recorded and played on BBC radio an act a week on the subsequent weekly Friday Rock Shows EXCEPT Van Halen who did not allow it.

The live footage of HFT comes from a TV show at the time which included a funny interview with the band prior to the show however I'm afraid that given that they didn't allow the radio recording like every other band I think it's unlikely that the whole show was recorded.

That said a few little factoids that probably even the most dedicated US bootleg people may be unaware of.

    1) There was a TV show over here in the UK a few years ago on the top 10 Arena rock acts based on a number of criteria blah de blah presented by Alice Cooper. I never taped it I wish I had. In that show VH came in at #5 and apart from some decent interviews they did show maybe 30 seconds footage from that same show which was not the HFT thing.

    2) Back around the time I distinctly remember some of my pals swearing that they saw footage on UK TV of Roth flip flopping onto the stage in the same way that gymnasts do when they go from corner to corner in the olympics during floor exercises. I dunno it seems a bit hard to believe now but thats what they said at the time. I never saw it.

    3) If the whole show does exist you have to think it's going to be not perfect. You can see in the HFT footage the retarded camera work where the fukwit concentrates on MA during the guitar solo. This was common back then in the UK at least whereby camera guys/editors seemed to be so fucking stupid they couldn't differentiate between the bass player and the guitarist.

    4) Jake E Lee was fucking awesome that day although I've long lost the tape. He said EVH came up and told him as much after the show.

    Cheers!

Probably Pretty Woman or Jump, nothing to lose sleep over...

Based on everything i've ever heard, read, or know about Van Halen and David Lee Roth - No way do I believe that one...

You would think that by 1984, even a cameraman who hated music would know which one was Edward Van Halen...

A nice box set would be outstanding. The set should include DVD's of old footage.. some 2007 tour stuff.. a new album.. a maybe an apology to fans for screwing with us for 20 plus years!!!
Three time witness to the comeback of the MIGHTY VAN HALEN. And then they faded back into obscurity.

            That's audience...

Proshot (by a camera crew or at least by someone with professional level tech) is what we're talking about...

It is probable that there are quite a few videos of the tour that were shot as camera crews were present at many shows. As far as anyone knows (and I AM NOT an expert on VH bootlegs) is that Van Halen was planning on putting out a live video of either the best show filmed, or a composite of shows to be released, sometime in 1985 or along with the release of 1984's follow up. Because so many proshot and FM boots of the Diver Down "Hide Your Sheep" tour (I can think of four off hand) surfaced, the band's security goons clamped down on all tapes and watched the soundboard like hawks to insure nothing live got out. But of course, the split happened...

Instead, we got "Live Without a Net," as Van Hagar was not about to release any additional material featuring Dave as the singer. That's basically what I've gathered anyways... The only rumor I know of a tape existing is the one I've posted, that somebody with connections to the Buffalo Sabres' NHL organization was able to tape a one-angle, but high quality, shot video from a box of the Van Halen concert in March of 1984 at Buffalo's Memorial Aud. But I've never heard anything more.

I do in fact know a guy who directed Sabre's game broadcasts as well as Hockey Night in Canada for a time in the 1980s. I've often thought of calling him, but it would be a bit awkward, and I doubt he knows anything about it...

Golly, I hope they don't box up Hagar shit with Dave material.

I'd probably wait for reviews from you folks here to see if it is much better than the boots. Oakland 81 (or anything 81 would be great).

Also, the Van Halen Encyclopedia says that 'Warner Brothers films [both Largo 84 shows]'...I would take that as pro shot.

And isnt Alex the pack-rat with all the video in the vault?

The "Showtime concert" was just the overdubbed US Festival songs, was it not ??

Those other videos are not exactly "rare" either....

                      Am I missing something ??

Sure one can easily get all of the stuff in the set but it's cool to have the whole "shabang" and it's always nice to support the artist, no matter how rich they may already be.

I saw the St.Pat's Day 1984 Providence 1984 show, and Roth did say they were filming it, although other folks say that Dave told many audiences that and there wasn't always film in the cameras.

SERIOUSLY hope NO VAN HAGAR shit would be included in such a release.
