wtf a superband returns to the stage after 8 yrs and i cannot find one newspaper or TV review or comments on the show last night! oh forgot sammy is fronting

    $$$ gslinger

Here is interesting things i noted going through the vhlinks posts from people who went to the greensboro show. hope this is cool?

four star people really felt like they got hosed paying 175 bucks for a 87.50 ticket that many people even got cheaper buying them through ebay. i think vh management really screwed people on this deal

many comments on how the sound was too loud, mix really screwed up, sucked, really sounded bad. this is the biggest negative comment i saw from all the posts

t-shirts were $35-55 dollars and there was a nice pullover for $80 and a jacket for $150. Frankenstrat striped beer huggie for $10. Ouch!

<> inside the golden ring is SRO, I paid $475 at the auction to stand all night, that sucked but the view was great

there several comments that EVH was having a good time and reacted positively to the crowd. <$$$> gs I saw your other posts about Ed getting on the road and realizing millions of people still care for him, maybe would help him not booze & drug himself to an early grave. maybe this was a start last night as I don’t want to see the guy die like this? what you think?

also it seemed like the posters that were serious musicians and serious VH fans that had seen VH a number of times said eddie guitar playing was way off and he sounded really rusty. maybe he will get better after a few shows?

this post on EVH was wild

<> I have one more little thing to add...I'm not sure if this was mentioned, but Ed did have a rope around his neck most of the night. I couldn't figure out why?? But, during one of the songs he pulled it up like a noose to hang himself. He did it again towards the end of the concert. It was VERY weird! I think he's losing his mind. Also, towards the beginning I saw Ed throw something to someone in the front row. It looked like they opened it and gave it back to him. He then threw something in his mouth. Then, it was time for him to play his guitar again and the wrapper was stuck to his hand. He waved it around a few times before it finally fell off. Weird! Sammy also ate something during the finale. Took a handful and threw his head back. Viagra? oh,,,, Ed's name was chanted many times, and he did cover his eyes and cry. Somebody said he cried at the dress rehearsal also,,,,,what is going on with is guy!

Responding Post - LOL. I saw that and was wondering what the hell he was doing. It seemed like he could've waited to get backstage...maybe they were breath mints..ROFLOL

    another post

<>Eddie's hair looks terrible. Love ya, dude, but let it down! And STOP SMOKING, DUMBASS!! I'll agree that his solo wasn't that great. He played Little Guitars intro, a bit of Eruption, some of Cathedral, and some other crazy stuff. Seemed kinda sloppy to me, though. I'd say he was definitely winging it. It didn't seem canned like on the live album. He was very emotional, as some have mentioned, yeah seemed to cry once!

    funny posts on alex

<> Eddie signed one shirt at the very end of the show. Eddie handed his guitar to Alex in order to do so. The look on Alex's face was priceless when the guitar abruptly began to emit glorious rock-guitar feedback. Laughing, Alex handed it back to Eddie with a look on his face that said "Here...make it stop!"

<> Kind of funny at the end when Al,Mike,Ed & Sam were taking
there bows and Al was holding Ed's guitar and accidently hit a cord and a load
scretch cam from the guitar. He didn't no what to do and gave it back to ED (funny!).

<> Al looks like Mr Spock. All he needs is pointy ears. Still rocks, though.

$$$ gslinger & all - hope this wasnt too much of a newbie post?
Hey you Van Dutch guys. Your names Neil & Bob or is that what you do!

That "living in 1984" comment is SO fucking original BTW. Think it up all by yourself?!

I was in Greensboro last night for the kick off of the tour. I don't know if I should be happy to see 3/4 of the greatest rock and roll band ever, or a little shaken up by what we were made to witness.

Yes, there were tarps. No, it didn't sell out. Yes, there were around 12k people there. No, they didn't have the set down perfect.

Eddie actually stopped during his solo and seemed to be lost. During the encore of Panama, he dropped his cigarette and actually stopped playing long enough to shrug his shoulders at the rodie who came onstage to pick up the "fire hazard." The guy returned after the solo on the song with a fresh cig.

I did not get the chance to witness VH with Dave. I wish I had. I've seen them twice now with Hagar. I saw Dave with Steve Vai in Greensboro on their tour. That was a much better experience.

I see them packing it up after this year. At least Led Zeppelin had the dignity to quit while they were still gods.

Thanks for the post and welcome aboard.

I do have a question for anyone though? Is there ANY way that we can get the actual attendance totals for the show? Our man gslinger posted a reliable 8000, "Leslie" with whom I spoke to briefly from the Geensboro Coliseum told me under 9,000, Linkers say 14,000 or "almost sold out" , our new poster DFK says 12,000 and Spermmy says that every show has sold out in record time?

            Anyone?

I'm sure it did. After listening to your Cherone album for 6 years...I'm sure it sounded like fucking Megadeath in comparison...that doesn't make it good. And just because you were arm in arm lighting a match with your chick...and maybe even got your little knob rubbed afterwards because of a great date...doesn't make it a great concert...just pathetic that you would confuse the two...

to expect y'all to live in reality and not in 1984 is asking alot.
Yeah...yeah...yeah...I'm living in 1984...I wish...I'd have no bills...you'd be two years old and I wouldn't have to listen to your horseshit, and Sammy Hagar would be a sidenote to real rock and roll...but alas...it's 2004, and reality is that VHagar is back, and as shitty than ever. As long as that's happening, I'll be here to let you know it...

              I love Roth, too...
Certainly not...if you ever saw a show with Roth involved...you sure as shit wouldn't be making a case for this travesty of a band.

when the day comes and he's pushing 57 i'd love to hear him pull of his stuff, spot on, in a concert.... let alone without back tracks for the lead vocals.......wouldnt happen.
Jesus Christ...first of all...hitting notes doesn't make you good when the lyrics you are singing sound like shit my friend. It's that simple. Noone can sing a Dave song but Dave, and nobody WANTS to sing a Hagar song 'cept that homo Cherone. PS...by the way..the only reason why Hagar is still even fucking around is because of the Name VAN HALEN. Yeah...had Hagar never been with this band, he would have been gone 20 years ago...
              So...bash all you want...it's amusing.
              Thank you...I will...

Have a nice day homo....and don't forget your St. John's Wort...

Max...my source Victor says that there were about 200 fans there that night...and about 8000 cardboard cutouts...well...Hagar fans...same difference...

I'd trust your Coliseum source and gs over others. Look at the posted pic of the overall setup

They only used 40% of the building to make the place look full. 40% of a max 23k capacity building would be around the 9k your Coliseum source stated.

                            Seriously? On stage?

Someone over at Brett's posted that he ate a hot wing or something looking like it during the encores. What a fat bastard!!! He can't stay away from his food can he? Even writing a new song about it? That fatass is probably proud cos surely he's heard all of the "Round Rocker" jokes from someone by now?

I also read that Edward was drinking red wine starting from the soundcheck and throughout the entire show.
