Great Post bluedog! The sad truth is that every post similar to yours usually is the start of a shitfest. WELCOME!

I agree with you for the most parts but I have a few points to make...

Is Ed a drunk, Is Ed smoking after beating cancer? Well according to show reviews...YES! Does being the most influential and musically significant guitar player of the last 30 years make it ok? Why don't we ask GOD? Or better yet, how about the Grim Reaper!

Why should Van Halen have had to change their name. It's their family name and the band was entitled to use it. Dave left Van Halen, Van Halen the band simply needed a new singer. Why should they be forced to change what is rightfully theirs because Daves ego outgrew the band?

Your right about the band growing up and getting older. I have no issue with THAT. However, are they acting like a an older more mature band? NOOOO. I wish they would. Eddies got that stupid hair cut and this ridiculous new attidtude and Sammy still hanging on to the RED ROCKER shit showing up in neon colors...Not to mention the childish lyrics of "Up for Breakfast" I would have WAY more respect if they just came out and acted like the mature middle aged band that they are.
And YES, I am a Van Hagar fan.

All in all... I would love to see the boys work together again. I think there is MAGIC tied up in all this annimosity!

      They'll work together again!!!

As a matter of fact they are painting a house on sunset strip this coming weekend...

guess the tour isn't paying off like they thought...
"Van Halen was one of the most hallelujah, tailgate, backyard, BBQ, arrive four hours early to the gig just for the parking lot bands. And still to this day is. It's an attitude. I think it's a spirit more than anything else is."

You think it's ok that they keep the name, ok.

But then you refer to them as Van Hagar, like many others, so even you have to say they are no where near the band they were, and that they are very, very different.

And different in a very bad way in my opinion.

I refer to them as Van Hagar simply to acknowledge that I am refferring to the Sammy era and primarily VH2004. IMO the Sammy era was great although extremly different than the Roth era which is just pretty much unbeatable for any band. When Dave left VH there was no telling how a new singer would do. Why make a drastic change at that state of the game. And Yes, what I have seen to date of the new Van Hagar is no where near the band the old Van Hagar was. If VH and Hagar reunite permanetly perhaps thay should change the name to Van Hagar... I know I wouldn't if it were my band...

I probably wouldn't either, just that they are that much different, and like I said, not for the good.

I'll agree with you on classic VH though, virtually unbeatable.

I won't hold it against you, I even gave ya a vote.

Ok, maybe hoots played a tiny part.

I do like it when a woman uses the term "titties" for some reason, which Fab does sometimes.

                      Alas, I am human.
