I still think Val's book was the catalyst that set Ed off. Just look at the timing. They guy is doing great until the book releases. Cancer just doesn't jump out and bite your ass overnight. Most people don't even know they have cancer until it's in the advanced stages. So I'm not buying the cancer thing and cancer isn't going to make the dude act like a fuckup on stage.

Val divorced Eddie. He wanted to remain married to her but he was such a fuckup she couldn't take it anymore. Val said Ed's last rehab counciler was a total quack that just told Ed what he wanted to hear while smoking cigarettes.

I think Ed still has emotional ties to Vallerie and the divorce, the book, plus having Wolfie between them all adds up to some emotional turbulence. Ed probably pounded some porn skanks but Val was his mother figure and she's gone and hey, it's hard to see your former wife shape up and bang another dude. Ed probably stil misses pounding Val's ass.

Ed used to be a professional. Give me a fucking break. How many times did the monitors, PA, guitar equipment fail in the early days of VH? I'm sure a ton. Ed used to keep his cool in those days. Roth was the only person who barked at the soundman and a lot of that I'm sure was to add some zest to the show.

Shit breaks down. I'm sure VH is using the best equipment on the road with multiple backups. It's not like they are using a Beringer Hecho En Cambodia PA with cables purchased on sale at Wall-Mart.

PA equipment is more reliable today than it ever has been. I agree, Ed has turned into a bigger baby the older he has gotten. Wolfie is the adult. LOL!

Think my reaction to Ed and his way of doing things is kinda morphing towards what George Carlin said about sports teams, in that instead of getting all bummed out and depressed when your favorite team drops the ball and loses the big game, best off just to cut 'em loose and get on with your life. Root for them when they get their shit together and start winning games again.

And to those who said that attitude made Carlin a fair-weather fan, he said fuckin'-A well told! The whole point of rooting for sporting events is to have some fun, as opposed to walking around all pissed off because the team you wanted to win the Super Bowl didn't.

Suppose one could say that basically getting treated with indifference by the band, long lapses of inactivity and a semi-chronic inability to get their shit together has becaome of a feature of the band for the last dozen years and fans just have to deal with or accept that.

Fuck that. I want the band at their best. ALL of them. Otherwise, what's the point? I don't know Eddie Van Halen. I'm not a doctor or a psychiatrist or alchohol abuse counselor; I don't have any vested interest in Ed's personal life.

If the guy starts playing well again and Roth's in the band, I'll possibly be game for seeing them live again, but after what I saw in 2008, my getting a ticket is no longer a certainty. I'd rather take that money, drive myself down to the local massage parlor and spring for a handjob; 99 times out of 100, I always get a happy ending and 100% satisfaction out of doing that (more satisfaction than what I got out of seeing the band in 2008, at any rate).

seemed to get sloppier as the tour went on into it's second leg.


Then, they cancel less than 48 hours till showtime.

Now I don't.

I'm gonna need a lot more from VH before I bet on them again.

Dave, on the other hand, has definitely proved himself road worthy.
