Val divorced Eddie. He wanted to remain married to her but he was such a fuckup she couldn't take it anymore. Val said Ed's last rehab counciler was a total quack that just told Ed what he wanted to hear while smoking cigarettes.

I think Ed still has emotional ties to Vallerie and the divorce, the book, plus having Wolfie between them all adds up to some emotional turbulence. Ed probably pounded some porn skanks but Val was his mother figure and she's gone and hey, it's hard to see your former wife shape up and bang another dude. Ed probably stil misses pounding Val's ass.

I doubt it. The book is not scathing whatsoever. Rather boring. Nothing we didn't already know. I doubt he's even read it. They haven't been together for years, and haven't been in love for waaaay longer than that.

If he didn't fall off the wagon, I bet he knew he was heading that way. Being "proactive" could mean a lot of things, even just needing a break.

Sounds like it's legit that Ed is having health problems though booze is obviously involved again as well.
It's probably a combo of the both-the boys need a rest after all that touring at an advanced age anyways.
They had a good run so far...here's hoping they saddle up again soon
