Susie, you listed "First lady of the Roth Army 1998"
Remember that comp where you were Ms Dlr Army and I was
Mr Dlr Army ! lol... (You forgot that one !)
Reason I ask is there is some debate over when we first
started posting. I would have put money down that
it was 1999, seeing your sig (1998) has got me thinking
again !!
Yep, I remember that contest of Mr. and Ms. DLR Army.
I try like hell to keep things all fluffy bunnies and pink daisies. But brutal truth smacks me in the ass all the time. ~Susie Q 2009Comment

I started a thread called, "Girls Night Out" that was real popular with the girls that started to wander in. Sweet Irony came in, Alley Kat, Chelle, Melein, Rose, Elitest, and Faith...and if you remember even the gents would pop in from time to time. VH Freak, Cathedral, Panamark, and Bug would come in and mess around.Last edited by Full Bug; 03-16-2009, 10:44 AM.Diamond Mafia Forever - 4. I used to come to The Army because it was the best DLR site of all of them and this was the best place to watch those old Dave and VH videos. YouTube wasn't available in the day. I often think, man. How did we get along before the internet? It was see what was in the magazine rack or bookstore. Go to the library and dig through the damn card catalog and then try and find it on huge shelves of books. I don't miss it a bit.No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!Comment

Then you find the book and it's goobered up dirty and smells like vomit and ass. I wonder how many germs thrive in the fibers of library books? No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!Comment

I discovered DDLR.com before finding the army.
If I recall correctly, it was during the summer of '02, right around when DLR was touring with SH.
I started poking around, looking for DLR/VH info, found classicvanhalen, the Links, and eventually the DDLR forums.
Prior to that, I wasn't a computer dude at all in the 90s, didn't even have an email address until 2000 or so. Used to lug a borrowed Apple setup to school every time I had to pull an all-nighter and type up a major assignment.
So, getting a decent laptop in '02, I signed up over at Von's and had a blast both there and here (though mostly there). Lots of laughs and a lot of memories now, too.
On a related note, it has struck me how my own personal VH experience, in a long-term, life-long perspective, is now so intertwined with my thoughts, experiences, and memories related to the VH message boards, particularly DDLR and here, that there's almost no separating the two: the band, and the online life related to it.
There's really no other band or fan community with which I've had a similarly intense online life, none."What we've been doing, which is great and certainly cost saving, is I train in the sand pit in McDonald's. I do a few laps. I go through the tunnel a few times. The kids don't mind if I smoke. Plus, when I'm done, lunch is right there."- DLR 2003Comment

Its stirring some distant long dead constellation
in my memory banks...
A guestbook is a basic form of a message board..
So technically WARF is correct on all counts.
The weapon description etc rings a bell...
Were we all using that original guestbook
like the old "wall" here ?? hmmmmmmmmBABY PANA 2 IS Coming !! All across the land, let the love and beer flow !
