He states quite candidly that the group actively sought out the same bulk shirts, ink and printing facilities as used by the bootleggers. During the latter stages of Roth's influence, an "officially licensed" VH shirt was barely recognizable from a counterfeit one. This profitable practice would have no doubt continued into the early Hagar era as well.
I said bootleg, as normally with official t shirt's the logo used is an official one etc.

To me it looked like something from outside the venue.

Would interesting to see if anymore fans own this shirt.

Why settle for something you have, if it's not as good as something you're out to get?

I remember this shirt because i saw people at school wearing it just like i saw people wearing the main 5150 shirts with the album cover on the front and the tour schedule on the back. I of course, had my Eatem and Smile shirt which said Roth Rules on the back of it.
I can see this shirt coming out of the same vain as the Bird logo for the 1984 shirt, but it looks like they spliced in something like Ratt was doing with their mechanical artwork.

I had the ROTH RULES shirt too. Man, I loved that shirt! Seemed like DLR & VH must've used the same marketing company in '86.

To add to my post above, I saw VH on October 31st at the Cow Palace in Daly City(SF). Everyone was dressed up and they had lit pumpkins around the perimeter of the stage.

On the way out to meet my dad( I was 15 at the time) this guy hands me a flyer. I look at it and its 4 guys dressed like women. It said POISON. I thought what a bunch of fags. BTW it was Rikki Rocket that had handed me the flyer.

I think a lot of us had that Roth Rules shirt. For some reason on the Eatem and Smile tour, i never could find a shirt that had the tour itinerary on the back. I saw Roth 4 times that tour from 86-87 and bought 4 different shirts, none of which had the dates on the back.

Cool story about the Poison flyer. I actually met them at one of their infamous record store signings on the Cat Dragged tour. They came to town opening for Ratt in late 86 or early 87. Ratt was headlining on Dancin Undercover and Poison had the one video, Talk Dirty To Me, just hitting MTV. Ratt ended up cancelling the show because they only sold about 1200 tickets up front and were a week out from the show. Anyway, Poison still came in and did the record store signing and i went down and met them. They seemed just as goofy then as they do now, especially Brett. Brett came out with a cowboy hat and mirror'd sunglasses, chewing gum about a mile a minute like he was probably speeding his ass off.

With Hagar it was not Van Halen. But Van Halen still kicks ass

Sir, please advise if you personally examined the shirt. We can't allow hearsay to enter into this decision.
