Moving to Main, and changing URL to the original VHND one....
Also, for those tempted, don't blatantly copy and paste the entire article (I'm guilty as well).... Let's allow the original author to get the hits.....Eat Us And Smile - The Originals
"I have a very belligerent enthusiasm or an enthusiastic belligerence. I’m an intellectual slut." - David Lee Roth
"We are part of the, not just the culture, but the geography. Van Halen music goes along with like fries with the burger." - David Lee Roth -
Not sure of himself? HA! What bullshit is this clown trying to stir up? Ed is going to entertain millions of people with this new album. Anyone would be a little nervous about releasing a new album. I bet that faggot who wrote the article is in bed, figuratively and literally, with Spam Hagar and wants to dim the light on the Torch. Thanks for the inside info, Mr Brownhole, but next time you are at Ed's just keep your fooking mouth shut.
Nervous is normal. Hell, every time I hoist my enormous balls out of my pants I am nervous about having strength enough to hoist them back in.~Only you can prevent low volume~Comment

I hope Dave's abilities in the studio are as well represented as they were on this track. http://www.myspace.com/jefffalkowski
(for the benefit of the new people who may have missed it)
It's a glowing example of how he can still bring it in the studio.
If Eddie's nervous that's good news because he'll do all he can to do his best.
Every day's a day closer to this new project going straight into our ears.Comment

The same goes for me and my late blooming boobies and my bras that keep on getting smaller and smaller. Eddie is nervous for all of us because he knows what he can do with that guitar.....I took it as a Fair Warning because we all know what he's capable of.....Now if he has developed arthritis in his fingers that's a different story and it's a legitimate excuse. I don't think he would attempt it at this stage of the game to let everybody down.....He's going to take his thrown and do what he does best in my opinion. You normally don't set yourself up for failure. It's something that I have tried to avoid throught most of my careers. In the hair buisness we say bad news travels fast. I think it's not as drastic in the rock world but we shall see.Not sure of himself? HA! What bullshit is this clown trying to stir up? Ed is going to entertain millions of people with this new album. That's a great article. Bettencourt can either write, or somebody did a very nice job with the information.
Oh dear.

If they allow Ed time to 'think', this album will be a total disaster.
The beauty of Rock'N'Roll is that barely any thought goes into it, it's all about feeling. If you start getting too neurotic about your music, you end up fucking all the soul out of it.
Honestly, how much 'thought' do you think went into the first album? None. The reason that album connected with so many people is because it had feeling, and it was real. Ed himself described making that album "one big party".........well there ya' go, pal!
It's Rock'N'Roll, not Chinese arithmetic.
If he's nervous, it's only because he's letting the perfectionist in him get the better of him. Whoever's in the studio with Ed shouldn't give him time to tweak it out, otherwise he'll fuck it all up.
"If it sounds good, it is good"- Eddie Van Halen
.......It's time to follow your own advice, champ
Just hit the 'record' button and kick ass.Comment

(snip) However, being from New York, Jeff eventually longed to go back east which he did in June of 2003. Moving to the Lower East Side of Manhattan, Jeff soon made friends with local stalwart Jim Kimball after meeting at a party. After playing together at the guitar shop he ran a few times and frequenting a few taverns he invited him to join his musical collective called Geometry often fronted by Daryl Palumbo from Glass Jaw. They played music and became close friends over the next year.
So one day when David Lee Roth walked into the his shop and informed him that he'd just moved to the neighborhood and was in need of a guitar teacher, he quickly volunteered Jeff. Of course, Jeff had never taught guitar in his life but certainly wasn't going to let a little thing like that stop him. About an hour later he was meeting Dave who was sitting curbside drinking margaritas and making friends fast. He told Jeff he wanted to learn Django Reinhardt style gypsy jazz, flamenco, Brazilian world beat, salsa, rumba, reggae, and a few other things Jeff had never heard of and wanted know if he could teach him those styles. Of course Jeff, not being altogether truthful said, "no problem." Although somewhat convinced he'd be fired after the first lesson he went home and started working on the styles fourteen, fifteen hours a day because of a keen desire not to lose what is certainly one of the best jobs of all time. He started to piece together these extremely difficult, diverse groups of music and everyday he would head up to Dave's to teach him what he'd figured out that morning. Running one step in front of the train, as it were.
For the next several years Jeff went on one the great musical journeys of all time with a truly legendary performer, master musician, tireless worker and all around spectacular human being. They eventually went into the studio in 2007 to record some of the music they'd been working on. This includes Take Sarava, a song that has Dave singing in Portuguese (He takes Portuguese lessons in spare time). It was yet another outstanding experience. (snip)
LIstening to the song tells me that Dave can keep his voice in shape a hell of a lot better in the studio than he can out on the road. And of course, that makes perfect sense. If this is any indication, I don't think we have to worry TOO much about the vocals.
Oh dear.
