i dunno, you like Van Halen's music obviously being on this site. Sure it would be freat for Mike to be there, but I am not missing thsi for any reason.

The last tour was great and by all accounts Ed is in better physical and mental shape AND there is a new album?

it is a no-brainer. Mike's vocals are always missed, but you are just punishing yourself...kind of like buying the beer on sale - Schlitz malt liqor - at the 7-11 rather than what you really want to drink - the micro-brew from Oregon.

So you don't know who Patrizio Buanne is? Maybe the guy likes it that way, or doesn't want to get too big, do you blame him?......Look what happened to Elvis because of it. He's much better than the both of them combined as far as talent goes. He sings opera, can play the guitar behind his head like Hendrix and plays the piano with the heels of his blue suede shoes. I didn't see Sanatra or Elvis do half as much on stage as he does. I fell asleep at Sanatras last concert all I remember is him drinking Jack Daniels and forgetting the lyrics and having someone bring them to him on a piece of paper.....then it was lights out for me! Patrizio reminds me of my family totally Italian. He says things that my grandfather always said to us growing up across the street from me, who could barely speak english. He's right off the boat like my dad, grandfather and uncles. I feel right at home at his shows. I get what he says, it it's in my blood. He's got them all comming to see him from 100 yr. old women in wheel chairs to 10 yr. olds leaping up on stage to grab him......He did say it's the quiet ones that you have to look out for! What's that old saying? From 8 to 80 blind deaf dumb crippled and CRAZY? I'm the CRAZY one in case you allready didn't know!

Yeah.....the fragile state of this band means I'll go see them......might be my last chance!

As of today, if the tour were announced, I would probably not go simply because of the ticket prices.

What did I pay last time around, in 2008?

Let's see: roughly $100 each for two tickets, after all the taxes and surcharges were added in.

            $20 for parking

            $50 for 2 t-shirts

            $50 for food and drinks

About $225 total, for a concert that featured a drunken stumblebum on guitar and had a rank amateur on bass. It was the most I'd ever paid to see a show, as was not nearly the best concert I'd ever been to

I mean, I suppose I'd be willing to pay the same next time around, if only because I don't go to many shows anymore AND possibly the aging Sinatra factor mentioned above, in that this band clearly aren't gonna be around forever.

All that being said, considering the results the band delivered the last time around, I'm not expecting much. Then again, in terms of entertainment these days in all its various forms, I've conditioned myself to expect paying a lot for very little in return.

I understand that bands need to make a bit more from shows than they did in the 80s because they don't make anything from the albums because of the internet but $250?

Of course I'm the lunatic that paid $600 for my 2 Van Halen tickets on the last tour...
Surely the Chilli peppers aren't charing more than £100 per ticket? I think the most I've ever paid for a gig in the UK was about £60 - £30 seems to be the average at the moment (before booking fee and other associated robbery).

The way I look at it is that I haven't taken a vacation in 11 yrs. and I don't get out much and don't dress up fly.....A night out to see the band doesn't sound too bad of a deal considering that that's all we lived to do growing up.....Why stop now? Save your pennies for a rainy day and you only live once ya might as well enjoy yourself. Everything in moderation and 25 yrs. and more than two in between is very moderate when you think about it. Thank God they don't come twice a month like some bands used to do back in the day. Now-a-days it would break my piggie bank considering my dad paid for the tickets back then and was our schoffer to and from the shows and had no clue we got to party with these guys while we were underage......I went to church incognito........

Ain't that the truth - I don't want to pay those prices anymore and there's no reason wh we should have to...

This gag order shit with Roth really pisses me off too - silence so they can pull the plug at the last minute if it ain't working up to expectations.

I'll always have the 81 to 84 memories I guess but I'd really like to see a new show with new songs -is that too much to ask?

It may have been...I do recall t-shirts were going as high as $50 a pop, but the shirts me and the missus got were two that were from the first leg of the tour that didn't have any of the 2008 dates (including the one we were at that night) printed on them, and I'm pretty sure they were only $25 a pop.

                          Over-priced for that band.

I can't see how they can justify more than £50.

The stadium shows are the worst.

'Since we are going to be selling 4 times as many tickets and you will have a shitty view miles from the stage with outdoor sound we are going to charge you twice as much?'

I've never been to one ever.

Then how do you know they sound so shit? :D

They're pretty much like a festival, to be honest. These days the sound is pretty good - they have smaller versions of the PA at various points in the venue which means that the sound circulates much better.

It takes quite a band to pull off a venue that size, however. I've seen 3 bands do it very, very well: Metallica, Muse and AC/DC.
