    Ticket Prices...for Live Nation's benefit

We'll never see those $12.50 seats again, but realistically, do you want to get bent over for $150 or more for a seat next year?

If the fabled 2012 tour ever happens, what would you be willing to fork out?

I guess the market decides but it stops you going to shows.

The Chilli Peppers are playing here soon. I'm not a huge fan but would have gone but I'm not paying $250 for 2 of the cheapest tickets.

I understand that bands need to make a bit more from shows than they did in the 80s because they don't make anything from the albums because of the internet but $250?

Of course I'm the lunatic that paid $600 for my 2 Van Halen tickets on the last tour...

Cuntsidering I paid $8.50 the first time I saw them, the most I'd be willing to drop would be 150....

You can still get anything vaguely popular on a torrent. I think it's going to be more difficult quite soon.

I'll put my hand up for example and say I downloaded illegally the first 6 Van Halen albums a few years ago. I'd already bought them twice, I'm not buying them a third time.

What should happen is that copyright should be reduced from 70 years after death to a straight 20 years after it's been created for everything in any case.

A lot of the problem goes down to the stupidity of the record companies. For example when the Diamond Dave album came out I downloaded it for nothing 3 weeks before it came out over here and then bought it when it came out. Where's the sense in that? When I bought it, I felt like I was making a charity donation.

I pay for a cable TV package which includes 'True Blood' which the SM is a big fan of. But for some retarded reason it's running a couple of months later over here so I have to download it from www.thepiratebay.org each week from the US.

There are a lot of very stupid people running the entertainment business. If I had less cash I would do what the young folk do and cancel all my cable TV and get more organised stealing all my TV instead of paying $80 a month or whatever it is. Pushing people like me into the habit of torrenting due to stupid scheduling is not sensible.

I paid $125 for a good seat on the lower level at the first show of the 2007 tour. And that's about the max that I'll drop this time too - well, maybe $150.00. But that's pushing it for a full time single dad. I just don't have the cash now that my daughter is in braces. Makes me wish for the old days when you'd go to the Record Bar at the mall on Saturday morning and stand in line for tickets.

                It's fucking ridiculous really.

Why should the band expect to make 10s of millions? It's greed.

A lot of this is demographics. I remember my parents being fleeced to see Sinatra when he was pretty much past it like Van Halen are now. It's the same thing, he was a legend and the audience were older so could afford to pay 10 times as much.

I don't so much mind dropping good money for a good ticket - as long as the band is getting the majority of my cash. But the goddamned ticket reselling websites buy up all the tickets at face value within 17 minutes of them going on sale and then charge $40 to $50 bucks on top of that. It's scalping and I don't know how legally they get away with it.

Pardon the question Sesh, but if you paid $300 a piece for tix for the last tour did you get the VIP ticket package?

Paid $125 each for my son and I to sit inside the "S" in the 6th row at UVA, and it was a fantastic experience for my son to see The Mighty Van Halen that close....

And it was pretty nice for me too... :D

How in the hell did you score tickets for $125 a piece that I Love All Access was charging like 500 bucks for? I would have killed all of the middle aged women in miniskirts at the show to have had those spots!!!

                          Got lucky really...

UVA was one of the shows that was rescheduled, so what probably happened was that they didn't sell all of the I Love All Access packages, so when they released those seats I jumped all over it....

we were just past the "S" in Montreal (12th row maybe?) and we got those at face value, no ILAA package.

Yeah I think it was the junior VIP but didn't use it as we had higher priorities. She has her 5 hour getting ready routine and I was in a bar. Actually we nearly missed the first song.
