I've just been looking at some Italian rock sites to see if they have anything new about VH in Europe. I've seen a couple of references to it as an "international "tour for what it's worth. One site also said that VH is rumoured to be scheduled to play Milan in June, tho I think this is probably left over from the "leaked dates" a few months ago.

Anyway, I found this part of the description of the current line-up funny:

Unico assente dunque dei primi Van Halen sarà il bassista Michael Anthony, che pare proprio non avere intenzione di fare ritorno e sospendere nemmeno per un attimo i suo impegno con i Chickenfoot. (Therefore, the only one of the original VHs missing is bassist MA, who, it seems, has no plans to come back and put on hold, even for a moment, his commitments with CF).

It's cool they used the front of a New York Central Railroad Dreyfus Hudson locomotive. Those old stream liners were cool especially that one. If you can't tell I'm a bit of a train geek. If there is a railroad museum or a historic railroad nearby I'm stopping. My wife had to drag me out of the railroad museum in Sacramento.

Kidding aside, Ed sounds great - better than he has in over a decade.
At least he doesn't sound like Kerry Kasem. Man what a hot dish she is though.

LOL! Ed is right though. I remember when I was a teenager and I said the morality of the day has hit an all time low and my mom said it was just as bad in the old days. She said they had terrible morality in the old days but just swept it under the rug more. Everyone was banging each other like monkeys. Hollywood had the Five 0' Clock girls and all that. The thing was you had to publicly show two beds in the master bedroom on a television show. Really I think the backlash of the 1960's was a rebellion of the fake morality of the 1950's. In some strange ways things are cleaner now. One of my favorite lodges to get some ribs used to be a gambling parlor and whore house ran by the guy that started Cactus Pete's casino in Nevada. A wise guy. What's funny is that is where the truck drivers like to pick up legal whores now. You go to the front desk and say you want to order some roses and the book full of the available whores comes out so you can pick one. Just so you know. But that was going on in this popular fishing spot in the 1950's where the wife thought her husband had gone up into the mountains to fish for some trout. None of that going on now that I can see. No slot machines, no whores, no bouncers that break your arm with a baseball bat if you get caught cheating. That was all in the goody two shoe 1950's.

My dad made part of his living in the Las Vegas construction trade. The old Vegas. He hated the new corporate Vegas. He said the mobsters might have been bad people but at least they had the class to keep the sleaze hidden. He said it was there if you wanted it but if that wasn't your thing you still could go to a casino, have a good steak dinner and enjoy a show. He hated the open whore house advertising on the strip. That really pissed him off.

Maybe that is where our society has lost it. Not having the decency to keep it out of sight of children and adults who are offended by it. Maybe it has come to the surface too much so we over compensated for the 1950's. I always thought Hugh Hefner got it right. He didn't push it on people but made it available for those who were interested. He never criticized those who found what he did offensive. He was always a gentleman that way and kept it what it should be. Adult Entertainment. It was one of the reasons us kids wanted to become adults.

That sucks. People around my way think it's imperative to go with the home state alums. I can tolerate some Bruce and I love Sinatra, but Jon BJ? Uhg. Growing up in New Jersey as a long-haired VH devotee, there was nothing more annoying than someone calling out, "hey, Bon Jovi, you can't park there" while unloading my gear or whatever. I was quite aggravated when Bon Jovi actually called an album New Jersey. I know of some decent bands from NJ that said they were from NY to avoid the stigma, I believe.

I just hope they don't do as AC/DC did on their recent tour and have a rather large locomotive onstage.

Hi all, as a very casual blogger my names James and im Sydney Australia id like to say hello, and that this whole video, tour and album is really great news.Like one of the bloggers here the last time i looked forward to an album was the Use Your Illusion albums back in the 90's during my teen years and im 36 LOL.With all the general buzz around the album and tour there is one thing i would like to say is fuck Sammy Hager!....fuck sammy for the interviews he has been doing telling press that he can see the VH Bros reuniting with him for another tour, this guy is delusional. After the success of the 07/08 tour money wise, i think the VH bros know where their bread is now buttered so to speak.Im hoping the whole album/tour is a final nail in the Van hager form of VH.

Im hoping when the new single drops it does the business and will give alot of youth who listen to the classic rock type stations a taste to go back to the CVH catalogue to learn the real VH, because as all CVH fans know VH ended in 85!

Wow - unless Ed and Dave got the Commodores as a replacement for Mikey on harmonies and back-up vocals, this is lame...

The only difference is the VH logo is a real photo and The Commodores is an artist conception. What can I say, 1930's art deco streamlining is cool and people just want to incorporate it into the theme.

According to Jeff at VHND, the locomotive is "part of" the artwork concept. Who knows what that means, but we'll find out in a few weeks.

It means rolling in with thunder and running Sammy Hagar over with six foot diameter driving wheels mother fucker! Nothing quite says get the fuck out of the way like a big steam locomotive running a high ball. Very rock and roll.

LOL! Yeah, I'm pretty sick of reading/hearing Hagar and Chickenshit trash talking VH. I hope this new CD just kicks total ass and shuts his fat ass up once and for all. Maybe he can release another addendum to his shitty book to change his story again to try to make himself look more important than he truly is. Dick...

Re - Bon Jovi and New Jersey. I think JBJ always wished he had been Bruce, or Steve Van Zandt.

Didn't they cop that look on one of the videos from their 'New Jersey' album from Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul, circa 1982? He and his band all wore long coats with gang-style logos on the back. You can see it draped over his shoulder in this pic:
