I went into our local SuperCenter Wal Mart last nite for a quick shot and decided to go check the cd section.
One damn "A Different Kind Of Truth" Van Halen cd !!! WTF ?
I asked the lady what's up and she said they only restock cd's if they're selling.
So ... maybe we crossed over to 400,000 copies, shit, A heavy like Springsteen only moved 25,000 copies more and he did killer promo for that record.
Woulda been nice to at least get a GOLD right out the gate, but today's economy sucks, kids buying music suck and music today just plain sucks too ...oh well.
Oh, and I saw "Fair Warning" and "Diver Down" in the cheap bargain bin for $5 !!!Last edited by minkahed; 07-22-2012, 09:04 AM.Hot dog and a shakeComment

I wonder how they will place as a Headlining Act Tour Sales in 2012 ?
With the cancellation of the last 5 or 6 months of 2012 tour, probably not very well, but may have been on trac to have the largest attendance of any tour ..?
With downloading and the ability of anyone with minimal knowlege to burn a studio quality CD and give to friends. I am amazed anyone sells much anymore.
Send it to my IPOD in a text at light speed.. beats waiting outside the non-existend record stores...Yes/No?2015 once smoke 2 smoke ...poke

Well, we are only at about 400k. That is probably US only though. Bet ya worldwide sales are over a million.
Another year or so we should see a gold album in the US.
Should be way more than that.Comment

No more updates on sales ?
Shit, it's September and this record and Tour came and went and noone besides "US" really cared or even knew about it.
No soundscan figures ?
They better do something on a huge scale and soon if they wanna still be in the game and stay relevant.
I don't want anyone saying Van Halen's best days are behind them, or even worse, Van Halen's last commercial heyday was with cheddy ... UGH !Hot dog and a shakeComment

Looking at the numbers of other big bands they are doing fine in this day and age. It's just a fact that rock bands don't sell alot anymore. It will go gold at some point. The first single didn't help. And I like the song. But it should have been Chinatown. Let's just hope they moved enough on Itunes & in cd form around the world to make it worth their trouble to release at least one more !Comment

I saw some figures on another site that suggested worldwide sales for ADKOT were about 810,000. I'm interested to know what the US figures are. A few weeks ago it had reached about 400,000. I'm sure ADKOT will eventually hit 500,000+, based on word of mouth about how great it is, the Grammys, other artists talking about it etc. But sales are nothing more than a curiosity about the industry. They are back to their best, or at least the best they can possibly be at their stage in life. And after the boredom of the Van Hagar era, Van Halen has regained a huge slice of credibility...with more to come!Last edited by Halen High; 09-11-2012, 05:19 AM.Comment
