Listen, if you think this new Van Halen is great stuff then I sure as hell am not trusting you to cook up any crow for my dinner table.

Are you guys just starved from walking through the barrens for too long searching for the oasis? This stuff is outtakes.

"Me Wise Magic" was fucking huge when it came out. Even though the reunion was already over, the song was played over and over and over again on radio. It was #1 on the Rock chart for seven weeks or some shit. Now that I think about it, I found out about the reunion by reading the USA Today. The MTV Awards was like being a kid at Christmas. It was like being on Cloud Nine. Then when I heard about the reunion being over on the radio, I felt like I was kicked in the balls. They all said the KISS reunion was big in 1996. Van Halen would have fucking dropped those guys.

I'm getting irritated right now thinking about all the years they wasted and how we ended up with Van Halen III.

Come on man...not the highest standards. How about like one that was left open a bit too long and a couple of degrees warmer than it should be?

I echo that sentiment fully, completely and loudly!

I'm not sure this album will end up as the 7th classic.

I think we tend to look back at some of the other albums and take them for granted, including Diver Down and 1984. Those albums are packed with timeless songs.

It has to be the 7th classic. There will be 7 Van Halen albums.

Imagine if the Rolling Stones shut down from 1975 to 2003. What a fucking waste.

Dave deserves blame for leaving. But Ed and Al deserve more blame for waiting over 20 years to let him back in the band.

So you're already convinced that since these songs were created from old outtakes, this album will only be medoicre? Still hung up on 1996? Why are you here? Please explain.

I'm passed the blame game...who fucking cares...

                        BUT...

listening to the new tunes is still a fucking cathartic experience, wrapped in 27 years of frustration...

...sounds like fucking magic to me...

Do you really want the answer to that question?

Why are people making such a big deal out of a band using and re-working old material that never made it on to albums? Do people not realize that almost every band out there has done this at one point or another? What's the big fucking deal? I don't get it....I think it's great that VH ....especially Ed were able to go back into the vault and re-connect with the glorious past. Van Halen from 1985 to 2007 made everyone feel they wanted nothing to do with acknowledging the past at all. Ed's style of writing music completely changed and the band never played any deep cuts from the back catalogue live....finally started dusting off some classics during the Cherone error. We have a new VH album with 13 friggin tunes on it......some are re-worked classics as far as I'm concerned cuz many of us have been enjoying these tunes for 20 years now or longer. The only problem I have with the re-worked tunes is not hearing them in their original form in my head. It's going to take me a long time to not hear Lets Get Rockin.....or Put out the Lights.....etc....when I hear these new tunes. Besides the re-worked tunes, the new, completely original tunes are kick ass....o.k. uncle Dave's voice is definitely different than it was back in the day......he's pushing 60 for crying out loud. I happen to think Dave's voice has improved over the last few years. Fuck man.....if you can't enjoy this album and this time in the band's history then go chat with the nerds at VHlinks.

Or just listen to something else. Why come here and ramble on about Ed's big fuck up of '96? Exercise in futility.
