Recently I started having nightmares about the end of this VH version...in fact since reading the EVH interview from Esquire where Ed says a portion of the Van Halen history is currently on vacation. What in hell Ed means by vacation...I really hope he means a permanent vacation?

Relax and enjoy the ride. All we ever wanted was to get a new album (check) and see these guys playing together again (check). On both counts, they've exceeded expectations.
Everything else is gravy. (Mmmmm. Gravy.)David Lee Roth's the greatest motherfucker who ever lived!

True. When he sounded somewhat insecure that the listener might not know that there's a lot going on in the music behind the singing, I thought, are we still hung up Ed? Come on now.Comment

100% accurate statement.
Don't forget that for many years Eddie said he had no problems working with Dave onstage ---- but then was calling him a "disease" (aka Lead Singer Disease).
Eddie will say anything to make himself, Alex, or Wolf look good ---- anyone else is neither here nor there.Comment

I have the same sentiments as damngoodtimes . I'm living and breathing in the current =VH= moment . I luv the current album and I'm still sonically buzzed from their recent show here . Yes , we all know all good things must come to an end . I hope to God they continue . They are on a good roll at the moment . Enjoy it for all it's worth .Comment

C'mon! Back to Hager? Who's going to be the bass player? Ed's not playing without Wolf and Sam isn't rejoining without Mike. I've said it before - No Dave. No Van Halen. When this version is done i'm done......Comment

I think that what Ed said is his prepared perfect response to the Slappy question. It takes the high road by not mentioning him, but acknowledges how proud he is of the music he made during that time period. However, I'm assuming it's a permanent vacation for those songs.
You wouldn't expect Dave to insult his work outside of VH, would you?I brought my pencil!!!Comment

My worst nightmare is a Dave lead VH in their late 60's ! I would like one for sure, or maybe 2 more albums from them. Then call it a day !! Some bands hang around waaayyy to long. I put the Who at the top of the list !! And the Stones 2nd. The Stones should do a huge farewell tour with Bill and Mick Taylor on stage and call it a day ! At least Mick can still sing. Rogers voice is shot ! Van Halen music is young & fun ! I don't want it to drag out. At least on a stage. A few singles here and there would be cool ! Wolf could start his own thing then in 7 or 8 years.Comment

I pretty much agree with everything you just said 78/84 guy......but Mick cannot sing....I love the Stones....was fortunate enough to see them in '89 at Shea Stadium.....great show. Mick is a helluva frontman....maybe top 5 of all time.....but honestly, I never thought his voice was anything great live. Back in the day, up untill the early 70's, I think Mick had a pretty good voice live...after about 1975 he doesn't sound that great to me. I agree, the Who are definitely getting old too...I always thought the Who were pretty powerful live though....even in their old age....I don't want to see Van Halen when they are a shell of their former selves....Last edited by Guest; 05-11-2012, 06:50 PM.Comment

The Who were one of the greatest live bands of all time. No question about it. Zeppelin had their moments also. They should have done their reunion tour when they did the Page/Plant tours with Jason on drums. I agree with Plant not to do it at this point. Other than a few shows once in awhile like the o2 show forget it. Early on Zep was awesome live. I would also put AC/DC on the list of greatest of all time live. Shit the last tour was proof of that. Brians voice is almost gone though. But like Dave his voice doesn't need to be perfect live. But he is older than the other guys. I think they will go one more album & tour in a few years. I guess I though Micks voice was still decent on the more recent stuff I have of them.Comment

It's all opinion bro....who's to say I'm right and your wrong and vice versa. I did see ACDC on their last tour.....first and only time I ever saw them.....your right....Brian's voice is definitely catching up with him.....how can it not.....but damn, they still kick ass live.....what an enjoyable show. Would have loved to see them back with Bonn. I enjoyed the Plant Page show I went to....I could have even dealt without having Jason Bonham on drums.....Michael Lee was a monster....but I never understood why they dissed JPJLast edited by Guest; 05-11-2012, 08:03 PM.Comment

To me Bon was the greatest frontman of all time. Good singer. Great fucking lyrics. Sure they were never deep, but it's only rock & roll. Never thought Brian was that great of a singer like Bon but he did alright for himself. Never was a huge Stones fan but I do respect Mick. He has always been himself. Michael Lee was awesome but to do it as Zep Jason would have needed to do it out of respect to John. He can drum. The version of Kasmir at o2 proved that. But no he's not his dad ! No one was or will be. I have my fingers crossed for a dvd of this VH tour. They really couldn't play much better than this.Comment
