Entirely different touch, technique, and approach - and more importantly more attitude - than MA or any example I've heard of Ed playing. Maybe you can't hear it.

I can go both ways on the issue...honestly, there's no reason Mike SHOULDN'T be involved at this stage of the game, but he isn't. Oh well. We all had to live with 3/4ths of Van Halen for how many years? It's not really any different now, it's just that the 4th element isn't the lead singer anymore. The show I saw, well, Wolf was good in his role - bass chops were great, much different feel than Mike, not as much stage presence, lacking the backing vocals, but MUCH heavier on the bottom end and...face facts, without him, there'd be NO VAN HALEN AT ALL.

If Mike comes back somehow, GREAT! I'm over the flippin' moon, trust me...if he doesn't, well, Wolf's my boy and I'm happy to have him there.

To be honest, Mike never did much for me, and I'm a bass lover. His solo used to piss me off and drive me crazy. Yes, there is the "original member" aspect, but I can be forgiving if the replacement "fits" the band. Wolf fits, plain and simple.

I hate nepotism at the best of times; however, if the recipient proves to be worthy of the position, I can overlook it. Wolf is worthy, imo.

I think they've handled this brilliantly, as well. By keeping him out of the vid's where the guys are just chatting about old times they avoided the backlash from the nay-sayers. That poor kid took a lot of crap last time out. Very smart of them to let him prove himself and be accepted by the fan base before unleashing him media-wise. (He'll still get bashed by the Spam/MA loyalists of course, but now he has "us" to attack them when they do. :D)

All parents want their child to fare better than them. The more I see, the more I think that Ed's purpose for this tour is the launching of Wolf's career, and why not? We all know at least one extremely talented person playing bars that should be filling arenas, I'm sure. If a talented musician can have an edge, why not use it?

It's entirely possible that EVH wrote all the basslines and Wolfgang merely played them on ADKOT. I certainly won't rule it out. We know the kid can play but we don't know if he writes his own music capiche?
