First of, less than half the tunes were based on riffs from the 70's and secondly, there was no drek
to be found on this release, besides a few spots of Tattoo. Didn't WB drop VH because Dave wasn't there? I'm sure they'd be thrilled to have them back.

I can see why one would say that. After all, there was a staple to their sound missing. I don't think they'll let you down though.

Naw, Van Halen with Roth behind the wheel needs to reinvent themselves, not rehash. They have the $$$ to hire a producer who can work with them to make some more original and interesting. Contrary to popular belief Eddie is not out of riffs but he sounds like he is out of ideas on how to go about them. To me, what saves ADKOT is Eddie's soloing because nobody and I mean nobody can punch out a solo like he does but those flashes of brilliance could have been better developed.

Oh, and FIRE Wolfie, get a bass player who can match Eddie and add a more refined vocal harmony dimension.

I agree that they should trust their instincts with where they should head with newer sounding music rather than only look back. You And Your Blues was a good sound for them to grow into.

As far as Wolf goes, he did prove his worth live, on both bass and vocals. He's got some nice spots peppered throughout the CD, too.

Once again --- you're a clueless cunt. Here's just a small sampling of Dave's genius on ADKOT:

--- "God is love but get it in writing"
--- "God must love the lazy, shiftless and the crazy, he put so many in life!"
            --- "I'm a lucid vision of the unforgiven, I'm your wave-tossed guy"
--- "A world of fools, that's just what's expected. None of 'em know it or even suspect it"
--- "I'm done with coexisting. This is heavy lifting. No more growing dependent over you"
--- "One empty floor stands between the stage and the welfare door"

Dave's high intelligence and rapier wit is on prominent display with ADKOT. He once again proves he's a rock poet of the highest order.

But I suppose you prefer more simpleton lyrics like "she puts cherries on my banana, cream in my coffee?" eh, dipshit ??

For one, the album was done for the money rather than the benefit of the hardcore fans. VH, even with Roth broke no new ground and instead kept their formula simple and boring. Some, just some of Eddie's solo's here are his best of all time but unfortunately they go nowhere; Roth's vocals are horrible - grounded and dated; the guy could benefit from some singing lessons. On the whole, it's one fuck of a boring listen with inane lyrics and repetitive riffs. It wasn't a comeback unless of course you count ADKOT as a major failure of 2012.

                  Which it was.
Oh come on really?.I don't see how you can think ADKOT was made for the money. With all the exclusive info to the major fan sites and the stream of stuff from the band that has followed how can you not see it is an album for the fans?.I get you saying they broke no new grounds but honestly what were you expecting?.It comes across to me as Classic Van Halen with modern production and equipment, and I thought that was pretty cool.I kow Dave's vocals have been hit and miss during the tour but on the album they were fantastic.I was really surprised by them.Personally I feel Dave nailed it and whoever mixed the vocals did a great job.

You say it was a major failure of 2012 but were you here for the build up?.Particularly January and February were incredible and even if the album does not do it for you being part of the build up was just magic. That experience was truly amazing and it won't happen again.
I really love you baby, I love what you've got

Kristy, if you would like to see badly written lyrics, I would recommend looking at ANY albums that Samuel Roy Hagar has written...

You mean Wolf-wise or the whole thing? The cd does seem a bit overly compressed at times, but I don't have a problem with the bass sound. I thought it was part of the newness that set it apart from the others.

Kristy, either you get Dave.. or you don't. I thought it was a fine example of writing and I loved the album.

You can take text out of any song and make it look silly
                          For instance.

I look at the floor and I see it needs sweeping
                          Still my guitar gently weeps.
One of my favorite songs. However what kind of rock song talks about sweeping the floor?
Lyrically ADKOT is a very strong album. One thing you can say about Dave is that throughout all the solo lineup changes over the years, this guy has kept his same stands up as far as writing.

Additionally, you sound really uptight and angry. I am not a Doctor, but if I was I would prescribe some sort of stress relief for you. Sex usually works for me.

                            The whole thing...

The bass is in and out and totally muddy and the guitar has some stereo wide effect that sounds like shit...

Even Edward says the album sounds bad...

He said they have demos that sound better...

Try the album in mono on a good system and it sounds better, especially on the low end...

I think it sounds more like Classic Van Halen in mono...
