I'll admit, I do find Kristy to be particularly harsh with her music critisisms, but rather than do the potty-mouth-throw-down exchange (that stuff's exhausting to read, let alone take part in), I prefer to enguage in a conversation that might yield the reason for the harshness. I gotta say, even though I disagree with her stance on Dave's lyrics, I do see where she's coming from with regards to her reception to ADKOT. I've got friends who are fans of classic VH that got to see them live back in the day who weren't so receptive to Truth either. There's always going to be different opinions.
Now, if she were one of the assholes saying Dave is fucking homo for enjoying dancing, that'd be a whole 'nother ball o' wax.Comment

I was listenening to Honolulu Baby the other day, which has a particularly quiet guitar volume at times, and was noticing some absolutely top notch fill work during the end of the guitar solo. He held it all together and sprinkled pepper on it for added flavor. One hell of a cook!Comment

Sam's hand- vagina was unsettling, any moreso than Dave's JD ejaculation schtick? Thankfully he put that to bed. Sam's outfits were pretty silly sometimes, but what's up with Dave's big hat fetish? The blower rants felt staged, but it made him look like a tough guy, much like when he " broke up" that fight which was really him just yelling at 2 idiots from a safe distance while security did the heavy lifting. Dave's recent lyrics were pretty good but grandiose for the sake of being grandiose here and there. "My karma just ran over your dogma" has been on bumperstickers for years.Comment

The big difference is that Dave's onstage schtick is funny and cool --- and with Sam it's just pathetic and creepy.
I was at Dave's show in Scranton, PA in 1999 and when he started jacking off the JD bottle I saw 3 or 4 ladies in the front row with tongues outstretched trying to catch some of Dave's whiskey "load" on their lips. God only knows what he was giving them after the show in his tour bus.
I seriously doubt any female was getting turned on by watching a 46 yr. old Sambo licking his "vagina fingers" hand symbol. They probably wanted to report him to police as a suspected sexual predator.

I'm lazy today.
Happy New Year!
Dave's gotta attack the vocal issues. I like to think that he is has already and is ready to go. He was top notch in 07-08, and in '12 the Van Halens were. Can we get it all together for the next go-round?
Almost a year later, if there's a rule that says you can only have a "Six-Pack" of CVH, ADKOT bumps anything but Fair Warning.
Money-grab, my ass. For money, they could just tour and play twelve hits.Last edited by BumBahDeeDah; 01-01-2013, 08:12 PM.Comment

Which is why I wanna choke out anyone who says --- "It's all about Eddie"
If it was really "all about Eddie" --- why doesn't Van Hagar and Van Cherone hold up as well as Roth-era?
Seems like some people just can't admit that Dave's swagger and humor is all over those classic songs --- and he also brings out the aggressive side of Ed. Can't duplicate that with another singer/songwriter.
After Dave left, I could actually hear Van Halen getting more and more complacent. The sense of competition within the band was gone. Almost like they were victims of too much success and starting to buy into the mainstream media hype that Eddie was a genius guitar player who was being held back by David Lee Roth's frontman antics.
I'd agree 100% that the friction between Roth and the rest of the band brought out the best in them. Shit, even take a tune like Me Wise Magic, which displayed more energy and drive than the band had since 1984...is it any coincidence that the only Van Hagar tune which came close to approaching that level of fury was Humans Being, recorded at a time when Hagar and the Van Halens were at each other's throats?Scramby eggs and bacon.Comment

[QUOTE=Zing!;1725680]In 2013 I'd like to hear the rest of ADKOT live. This includes Blood And Fire done properly (without the headset) and more surprise deep cuts - even if it means DLR reading the lyrics from a crib sheet.
