I won't argue with you. I was in Houston for two weeks and driving a fucking Ford Focus (my back still hurts), and took 15 minutes to navigate and fucking pair my iPhone. In my Benz back home, bloop! Paired in no time! Also, I sent an email to my old manager asking (somewhat indelicately) why the new Kia Soul (which we negotiated to have run Microsoft's in-vehicle platform) had switched to a Linux-based system for the 2014 model. Haven't heard back yet.
Personally, I was always skittish about Microsoft running anything in an automobile, and even worse, "open source" bullshit, which while I agree in spirit, I want better QA to go into platforms that even sniff my mission critical stuff like, oh... anti-lock brakes, etc. But EITHER option is better than AUTOMAKERS developing software. Serious, GM? You can't get cars to roll off the assembly line without quality problems or at a profit, and now you want me to trust you when you develop code for those rolling death traps?!?!? No thanks.
Glad I left Microsoft, but it was more a passion for the work issue (didn't have it). But in terms of treatment and bennies, at least for me, they are still the gold standard in terms of comp/benefits/pay package as compared to my other employers (IBM which was pretty good too, etc).
