Perhaps not, but it is indicative of the basic flaw in the VH braintrust with regard to forward thinking: There isn't any.

For one thing, these clods truly believed at one point that hiring Sam Hagar and Gary Cherone were positive steps in career enhancement. Somehow, the twits managed to screw up not one but two greatest hits albums, issued live material no one on the planet wanted to witness, leading a great amount of it's more devoted fan base to head to record conventions or the Swap Shop to find beat-up, stepped on and re-re-re-recorded, muddy VHS copies of the Live in Brazil show, which wound up, not remastered or even color-fixed, on DVD around a decade later.

These boneheads could have not even broken a sweat and issued the God-awful US FEST show on DVD, and a majority of us would have tripped all over our cranks on the way to Best Buy, Target or Barnes & Noble to plunk down our hard earned cash for a copy, yet NO.

Instead, they've been directly responsible for foisting the talent-free career of Hagar upon the public, leading to not only his pointless appearances on the Food Channel like he's some sort of Anthony Bourdain of the rock and roll world (Bourdain has more hard rock credibility in his big toe than the hack Hagar has in his entire inflated, attention starved ego), yet the abomination known as Chickenfoot (wonder what them guys are doing these days...on second thought, who cares?).

Bands like KISS, Iron Maiden, Deep Purple...fuck, even Jethro Tull have issued rare material and live shows on a regular basis over the past 15 years to keep abreast with (and yes, profit from) their fans. We on the other hand, get to purchase EVH wah-wah pedals ("It's what I use", all evidence to the contrary) and dubious other musical novelties, including guitars. Oh, and the occasional t-shirt, sneakers and hoodies.

Yeah Ed, it's all about the music, ain't it? If that's the case, rather than trying to sell me some crap that you decided to endorse this week, how's about offering me some actual music, instead? Fuck, I'll tell ya what: Allow me and some of the other jugheads around here to go through the 5150 archives (more than likely, a bunch of unlabeled boxes out in yer garage next to the washing machine) and come up with some stuff for release. Hell, a couple of pizzas, a few cases of beer and about 8-9 hours work, and we could save the CVH legacy.

Really, how hard is it to pull the trigger on something that simple?

Well, in all honest they didn't have much choice in 1985 with Dave gone. And Sammy at least kept the band making #1 pop albums. Although the quality of those 4 albums were a fucking rapid decline if I ever saw one. But I think initially Sammy was a decent choice and gave the band the best chance at surviving without Dave. As soon as Sammy started bashing Dave simply to be "one of the guys" it was over for that fat fuck. he lost any credibility any real VH fan would have given him. And the worst thing is he has only gotten nastier & nastier as the years go on. The guy just can't say anything nice about any of them. Sure Eddie is a dick, but spewing out the guys most personal habits when he was at his lowest point ever is ....is.....is......fuck, not even a term for how fucking low that is.

ADKOT was good but Van Halen suck overall live and it's mostly Dave's fault...

I totally agree with the Chef.

If Ed (or Wolf) would ever truly "Rape The Vaults", and give us one of the old shows on bluray, I wouldn't give a fuck if VH ever performed live again.

Sure, if they continue to tour, I'll still go. But at this point, I am much more interested in having a quality copy of one of the old shows.

Of course, knowing the way this band operates, they'd fuck that up too. Instead of just throwing it onto a DVD and releasing it, I'm sure they'd go in and take out all the live nuances that we loved and expected from the original version of this band.

You would think after all these years. All these mistakes. These fucking guys would have enough common sense to listen to us. THE FANS! The closest they have come to listening to a fan, is listening to Wolf. Maybe they should listen to someone else that has the best interest of the music in mind. I can promise one thing, if they listened to me, they'd get the best interest of the music, AND still make a ton of money in the process.
