I noticed that too. It made me wonder how old the interview actually was until the question towards the end that referenced ADKOT.

I can't believe what a short, lame answer that was to House Of Pain. The jam to the fade of that song is worthy of a full blown discussion IMHO.

Well, I have to say I prefer the version of House of Pain that ended up on 1984 much more than the version floating around on the Simmons demo.

Also, I'm pretty sure there were some acoustic toms on 1984 in spots...it doesn't sound like the toms were all electronic...

There wasn't much in the article that I hadn't read before, but it was okay nonetheless. I mean, all GW has to do is stick a vintage picture of Ed on the cover and the issue sells out, so I suppose I can't blame them for doing it (yet) again.

I noticed one mention of Dave, in passing - it's where Ed talks about having a lot of tapes of riffs etc from the tour bus. I think he says, "for the first six tours we all travelled on the same bus, which Dave called the Disco Sub. All I did was write. You can hear the bus generator on all the demo tapes I recorded".

So, Disco Submarine is what Dave called the tour bus - a crucial contribution to tour ambience, no doubt ....

I suppose it was a guitar mag interview. I wouldn't read a lot into the lack of talk about Dave - the interviewer never asked anything that led that way. Plus, I get the feeling that interviewers these days probably tread more carefully 'cos EVH has shown he can get along without the press.
