"If the American people had ever known the truth about what we (the BCE) have done to this nation, we would be chased down in the streets and lynched." - Poppy Bush, 1992
There's a bit of bullshit in that. You had a guy fucking die during a game due to internal injuries sustained before helmets, stop with the Don Cherry propaganda!..
shouldn't have used never...but there were a fuck of a lot less. And what do internal injuries have to do with helmets? My comment has fuck all to do with Don Cherry. Many old players have commented on this phenomena....

I had to look up Don Cherry, I'm not a big hockey fan. I barely know the basic rules and some of those I'm not too sure about. I don't get Nick's comment because all I've found about Cherry's comments about modern hockey had to do with not enough fighting and too many goal celebrations. There were less head injuries in football and hockey before they started using head protection (they had leather helmuts in football, not real head protection) and some people do agree players are more likely to use their heads to inflict injuries and take more chances on getting hurt themselves. They have tried to implement rules to prevent head injuries in most of the major sports like football, baseball, hockey and auto racing but not in boxing or other ring type sports like MMA because they think it will make them look like pussies. That's why most of your retired boxers have brain damage. Eventually they'll probably make anyone fighting in the U S at least wear head gear like they do in amatuer boxing. They won't be able to make fighters in other countries do it but they'll have to if they want to box here.
Back on the subject of football, I don't mind that they're trying to prevent head injuries but they've gone overboard trying to protect the quarterback. The slide rule needs to be eliminated. More passes will be thrown if the quarterback knows he's going to take a shot if he tries to run. (in my opinion). Passing plays are much more exciting anyway. Nothing beats watching a tight spiral floating through the air in slow motion and seeing a spectacular catch on a highlight reel while really cool music plays in the background.
