"Previous years have seen Janet Jackson, Aerosmith and others take advantage of Vancouver's relative anonymity and world-class technical crews."

it's not just that. rehearsing in Canada frees up days toward an American work visa that they need to tour. rehearsing in the States would use up some of those days.

Cant they get around that by hiring a certain % of Americans into the crew? The Stones have toured over 6 months a year in the states.Just askin,I dont claim to know the nitty gritty. BTW, all three were seen at CinCin on Robson last weekend eating together. No punches were thrown.Thats a good sign. The power of $$$ indeed.

          Police Schedule Post-Grammy Press Conference

          The Police

          February 07, 2007, 2:20 PM ET

          Ray Waddell, Nashville
After weeks of speculation, a press conference and "special announcement" featuring rehearsals by the Police is set for Monday (Feb. 12) at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, Calif., the day after the band will reunite for a show-opening performance at the Grammys.

The 11 a.m. PT press conference and special announcement via live satellite broadcast is widely expected to be regarding a 30th anniversary world tour by the seminal rock trio.

The press conference announcement was made by promoter Live Nation. Given that, it is a likely assumption that Arthur Fogel, chairman of global touring for the company, will oversee the tour under LN's TNA International banner. Fogel and TNA have a past history producing Sting's world tours, and last year presented international runs by U2 and Madonna.

I wonder if Van Halen's going to show up at the Grammys or not...

Looking forward to the tour; I'd imagine that's the gist of the "special announcement"...

what does the crew have to do with the fact that the band is made up of nonresident workers?

i know Keith lives in Connecticut, so maybe he's exempt, unless he's not a US citizen.

                  Sting Announces `The Police Rehearsals'

Thu Feb 08, 2:27 PM ET

The Police, who are reuniting to perform at the Grammy Awards on Sunday, will celebrate their 30th anniversary at the Whisky A Go Go the following day.

To enter the drawing for a spot at "The Police Rehearsals," fans must be "legacy members" of Sting's official Web site, Sting.com, the 55-year-old singer announced in a posting Wednesday. Twenty lucky winners will be notified Friday.

"After the event, we would like the winners to each submit to us 250 words that describes their experience of the day we can say with some certainty that none of you will be lost for words!" the announcement said.

Sting fanned speculation of a Police reunion and tour when he told the Television Critics Association last month that he and former bandmates Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers were "talking about" doing something to commemorate their anniversary.

The Police, whose hits include "Roxanne" and "Every Breath You Take," will open the Grammys, which will air live on CBS-TV from the Staples Center on Sunday night.

The band broke up in 1984 amid internal conflict. They last performed together in 2003, when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Stewart Copeland is (and always has been) a born and raised American.

They just appeared on the Grammys sounded really good!

I try like hell to keep things all fluffy bunnies and pink daisies. But brutal truth smacks me in the ass all the time.

Fantastic. Can't help but grin when you watch Stewart Copeland play.

They're the reunion tour to beat, that's for sure.
