Ratt "Infestation" (there was a clip of DeMartini recording a solo for the album... worked for me)
Black Country Communion "Black Country" and "Black Country Communion 2"
Steel Panther "Feel The Steel"
Jamiroquai "Rock Dust Light Star" (because of "White Knuckle Ride")
Raphael Saadiq "The Way I See it" and "Stone Rollin' " (a good old school Stax/Motown vibe)
Souls Of We "Let The Truth Be Known" (George Lynch!)
Mr Big "What If"
Duran Duran "All You Need Is Now"
Why settle for something you have, if it's not as good as something you're out to get?

The only tune that I can think of that was remotely close to '80's rock/metal was Velvet Revolver's Slither.....
I liked VR, but they paled in comparison to either of the bands that spawned them. As for new stuff, my ex girlfriend was way into My Chemical Romance, and while I dug their first CD, they got pompous and pretentious IMO on the second...
There's some great guitar work on the latest Extreme disc, but you have to put up with Cherone. Can't really think of anything else that held my attention besides the last Ratt CD, sad to say.

Big Elf (weird and wonderful rock 'n' roll circus. A sort of gothic T Rex)
Also loaded with a major early-Sabbath influence, laced with Mellotrons and Hammonds. Sounds like all your favorite late 60's/early 70's bands.
AND they have two Finns in the lineup! (bass & guitar)
