i thought about the ratings thing too, but if they were really chasing ratings the show wouldn't be broadcast on Fuse. does the whole country get Fuse?

It is like you can buy your own star on the walk of fame and most hasbeen stars do that to feed thier 500lb monkey.

I have one on my back, but he is a FUKKIN F..MF.... DRUNK...asshole monkey..but anywhooo....

Studios buy them Fanclubs..etc...It could mean popularity if your fanclub buys it ,but it is a sales tool sometimes....

ABBA being in there (RRHOF) means pilgrimages from -MILLIONS- of ABBA fans, buying merch and touring the facility...?

I think the RRHOF is the same thing whoever pays the most gets in...Or it is a corporate sustainability sell-out.

I am happy about some of the inductees and members. So, perhaps it is just, who you listen too, as to who you care gets in...

Good point and I have no idea about Fuse. If it's not about ratings and a popularity contest then......the idiots at The RRHOF have awful taste in music and are completely clueless as to what is R-N-R.

I don't think it has to do so much with ratings, as twona points out, why air the thing on Fuse? It could be an act of expedience and instant profit more than anything else. Think about it: Indy just signed a deal that broadcasts races on the equally obscure VS network (otherwise known as the "Bicycle Channel"). It would be interesting to know just how much Fuse paid for the rights, and if the cost was greater than what VH-1 (and ultimately Viacom) was willing to pony up.

the show was on Fuse last year. i don't remember reading anything about money involved but i'm sure that was part of it.

HOF merch, maybe. it's not like a band gets in and then all their swag is put on sale at the gift shop. there's a small music/video section, and books/posters, but the actual HOF merch is typical "museum" fare...t-shirts, hoodies, hats, shot glasses, postcards, etc. the HOF store can be accessed without buying a ticket, one could really run in and say "hey i was there" and not spend anything.

With such "Hits" like "Fernando" "Dancing Queen" - C'mon.... this is the type of musical group for a receptive Branson, Missouri.

How can this possibly get defined as Rock n' Roll????

Someone must be paying Jann Wenner to give accolades to Sweden.

              RnRHOF is pathetic...

I meant HOF merch ... but like most of my posts wasn't clear enough..lol.

and i was inffering that there may even be a fee to get in the door, "income from pilgrams" ..I have driven thru the city, but never toured the R&RHOF..

I would like to see it someday.

ABBA got in because they are Ritche Blackmore's favorite band. The Rock and Roll Connection.

there is a fee, can't remember what it is though.

we had our work holiday party at the HOF one year, don't have to pay admission for that and the whole building is open to roam around. they rent it out for weddings too, but it ain't cheap and you have to use their caterer who also ain't cheap.

So...it appears KISS did not make the final list.

I'm sure Chaim Witz probably has to take some of the blame for that one. He probably didn't want Ace & Peter inducted, and damn sure wasn't going to have them on stage playing with him.

That doesn't really qualify a person. I can think of one other example you would agree with me on.

Yes, but Eric Carr didn't turn Kiss into Air Supply with a better guitarist.

                              You're right about that, FORD.

                              BUT.

"Beth" ? "I Was Made For Loving You"? They jumped the shark before lineup changes. I can't say the same about Alice until "Muscle Of Love".

No. But ABBA is a big part of that.

The simpliest way to define it is to play ABBA heavily, and with more guitars, and you have plenty of today's rock music. Plus, pop was played with real instruments back then.

How many 80's rock ballads would there be without songs like these?
