No, what I'm saying is that GLADIATOR is no more sophisticated than CONAN or even a Kung Fu film ("He killed my master, he must die", "He killed my wife, he must die"). It has absolutely no depth whatsoever. It's just action and pretention and melodrama. Nothing really wrong with this...but it's just not that fucking exciting and certainly not deserved of praise the way something like AMADEUS or ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST or other Best Picture films are.

CONAN deserving an Oscar? Fuck no. But it's better than GLADIATOR.

Amadeus sucked and so did Chariots of Fire. Never understood why either of thos won Oscars. Gladiator was way better than Conan. The film was an epic and I loved it as do a lot of others. Obviously enough to gather votes for best pic.

Quit your cryin' anyway, you're just pissed off that Roy Sheider has yet to win a Best Actor nod. :p

First off, AMADEUS was brilliant. Considering you couldn't hum one Mozart melody, you'd probably better enjoy a dramatization of Hagar's life (or a gay porno...same thing) instead.

Second, CHARIOTS OF FIRE is an excellent film.

Both are important characterizations instead of packages dramatic cardboard cut-out pretentious crap designed to make trailer trash think they're enjoying something intellectual or historic, like GLADIATOR.

Third, CONAN is a fucking great sword film, and a lot more original than that second-rate SPARTACUS rip-off, GLADIATOR.

Fourth, it's ROY SCHEIDER. Jesus, what are you trying to prove? That you can't spell one Hollywood actor's name? Christ, you'd even have trouble spelling Brad Pitt probably.:p
