Awe man, you had to go and bring up the health care issue?

Trust me, you don't want Universal Health Care, bro.
It sounds nice and all that, but putting the government between you and your doctor is a HUGE mistake.

If you have parents that are on Medicare, or know someone who is on Medicaide or children who are in CareSource then sit down with them and discuss how much red tape is involved getting the care you need.

I don't do HMO's at all, I have a policy for my daughter and I that covers anything and everything we could possibly need from a doctor or a dentist.
If a doctor says, "You need to get this done", we go, get it done, and move on.
You start getting the government involved and just like Medicare and Medicaide, and even in some HMO's, Everything is pending approval.

If the government has to be involved in any way they need to take action by controlling costs, universalizing the health care industry will do nothing but lower the quality of care across the board, and they have the right to deny you treatment if they feel it isn't warrented.
Understand what i'm saying here, people who aren't doctors, have the final say on if you do or don't get covered for something you may or may not desperately need.
And in my experience that final decision is NOT based on the doctors recommendation, it's determined by the expense of the procedure and the number of claims you have or may have in the future.

Put it this way, You can wheel your spouse into their examination room and she is unable to move a limb on her own.
That "governmental" representative will sit there for one minute and then walk away and write 3 pages of documents claiming she is fine and doesn't need the procedure.
Then you have to appeal the decision which will take months if not years, the whole time mind you, a serious condition may be getting worse.
I tell ya, getting approval after someone has already died is not foreign when dealing with Disability...there are many who have died waiting for the red tape cycle to complete.

Disability is set up exactly how they want UHC to be done, and dude, I've been dealing with them for my wife for the last 6 years, and it just doesn't work.

If i didn't have a secondary policy from before she got sick, she'd be fucked because they have covered everything that was denied through disability.
If you think it's bad now, you can't imagine how bad it will be if everyone was on the government plan.

I'm serious, UHC is a bad idea for everyone.
It would be better to just regulate the costs somehow and keep them from rising so fast.
One way to do this is to lower the liability risk for drug makers and doctors.
Lawsuits are the number one reason why health care is through the roof in the first damn place.
People take advantage lawsuits when claiming damages, and it hurts everyone else in the process.

UHC has been a disaster in canada, not so much economically, but as i said, the quality of health care sucks.
Just picture every doctors office looking like your local free clinic, and that's what you will have across the board under a UHC System.
