It's less interesting when you remember that 90% of the world is 'people of some sort of color'.

I'm surprised to hear about your perception that Chinese people are hated and envied. I think a lot of people quite rightly have serious concerns about the current Chinese government but I've never seen or heard any ill feeling towards Chinese people ever but maybe that's a US thing? I'd still be surprised at that.

Maybe my perception is based on numbers because the community here is relatively small but my impression has always been that because Chinese people are happy to take part in the local culture and don't usually have strong religious superstitions they are the model for the melting pot of multiculturalism.

I have a couple of work colleagues who are from Hong Kong, I'll need to ask them if they have experienced all this hatred and envy you seem to be getting. I've never even imagined it could be an issue for a second but maybe I'm naive.

I'm really optimistic about racism, I think its dying, slower in some places than others but it's going.

I honestly believe that in the last 50 years through a combination of education and interracial fucking every generation is a lot less racist than their parents.

I think the secularization of society is helping too, religions are inherently divisive and perpetuate racism one way or another.

i am a half breed.
as i have said in the past, my father is white.
and yes, i hate him. he and i have been at odds my whole life.
we still are.
i have no communication with his side of the family or my sisters, who take after him.
i have as minimal contact with him as possible.
i am in regular contact with my mother on a very regular basis as i take after her very heavily.

quahnah parker was a half breed, but as far as he was concerned, he was a red man.

Totally...through marriage, pop culture and other things race doesn't mean what it used to even when I was a kid. My younger brother married a Mexican gal...no one on either side of the family (hers and his) batted an eye. No one refused to go to the wedding and all holidays are now double the amount of people. Her family and my family get together for everything. My two nieces have never had a problem in school or with our extended family.

It's fucking normal! This is, IMO, the best way to beat racism.

Of course Great Granddaddy married a full blooded Ojibwa, so I guess my family has been more tolerant than most.
