I can't really recall being owned by anyone. I think it has more to do with the fact that you're a humorless prick with a dildo up his ass big enough to slap a few a few Ron Paul bumper-stickers on.

hell, you stick a dollar in the bank (so that it can be lent out and help expand the economy) and the interest will generally counter some of the loss of value.

Though in all seriousness... it's kind of crappy to have to invest money to prevent losing value... or at least where you hope your return on investment offsets depreciation if not makes you more money. It punishes savers. The value of money is going somewhere. And that value is coming out of the pockets that do the most work for the least return.
