I don't have a problem with that...armed police in every school...
or outside the school...
or merged with the school in some way...
What I have a problem with is the fact that I just sat through the entire presser watching the NRA saying that it's all "them," and that the "us" will fix it with a ridiculous shield plan...
There are multiple issues that need to be fixed, and the hope here is that people can fucking meet in the fucking middle...

Most places already have that. Some schools in NY even have a State Trooper assigned to them, but many have local police in the building periodically. These are mostly middle and high schools of course. But what they're advocating is prohibitively expensive and furthers the armed camp mentality...
I couldn't agree more. Furthermore, at the beginning of the conference, NRA PR-guy Baghdad Bob or whomever he is, stated the typical "assault rifle" semanticist bullshit and claimed "the media" called "the .223 the most powerful round ever" or something to that extent. I didn't hear that at all. In fact, someone on NPR referred to the weapon as a ".22" (.22LR is a very small bullet while the .223 [5.56mm NATO] round is a high velocity bullet designed to kill lots of people) and hinted that AR-15 derivative rifles aren't really all that powerful - which of course is complete bullshit since he fuckwell knows that the .223 round was developed for the AR-15 in order to maximize useable firepower of our soldiers as realistic combat ranges and to give them an equal to the Vietnamese carrying AK-47's...What I have a problem with is the fact that I just sat through the entire presser watching the NRA saying that it's all "them," and that the "us" will fix it with a ridiculous shield plan...

Allowing a bunch of potentially douchebag teachers to all carry their guns to school is fucking retarded, and WILL cause deaths and violence in schools and problems with lawsuits and the like.
I do think that a couple of teachers that have passed stringent checks and have military or law enforcement experience could be authorized to have access to a handgun locked in a safe in their rooms...Comment
