I don't doubt WB is trying to mend fences...the question is...can the monetarily mend the fences...
That certainly is true in 2005....
If this ever came to fruition in 2000 (damn 5 years fly by), the response would have been phenomenal...
But after 5 more years of inactivity in terms of CVH, then a horrendous "reunion" tour with Sambo, the name "Van Halen" is gets more of a chuckle response rather than an exclamation....
So, yes, would it elicit a huge response from the music world, and in ampitheaters and arenas across the country ?? Of course it would, but I think the level of interest peaked in 2000....

Nah. A reunited Classic Van Halen would still rake in the bucks. Don't think the interest has quite diminished as much as some say, although I doubt CVH would be filling football stadiums for multiple sold-out dates.
Would be cool of Ed wanted to work with Dave, and Warner Bros. was able to start the ball rolling.
But just plain refuse to get excited about rumors. Just been too many of them, most of which start off with the claim that someone knows someone who has the inside track on what's going on, etc. And none of these have as yet to pan out.
If it should come to pass, we'll all know about it. Personally, am not gonna bother getting hyped up even if it was confirmed that Dave and Ed were working together again until some new music is released or the first dates are announced.
Originally posted by RogueHorseman Take this for whatever you think it is worth, but I have it on good accord that some within Warner Brothers are attempting to mend fences between the camps with an eye towards the new year.
Apparently, EDWARD wants to get the ball rolling.
This is the perfect scenario for Dave.

I wouldn't get hyped up if it DID happen...after fucking waiting for it for 20 years...I'm past it...
I remember calling radio stations in 1993 when the first REAL reunion rumors started...
then 1996 hearing Me Wise Magic the same day that I heard Roth WASN'T in the band...
"Van Halen was one of the most hallelujah, tailgate, backyard, BBQ, arrive four hours early to the gig just for the parking lot bands. And still to this day is. It's an attitude. I think it's a spirit more than anything else is."
Dave, of course, has had several deals with different labels...
Is Ted Templeman still alive?
The ultimate thing would be to reunite the entire team...have him produce, WB do the promo/marketing/distro, hook up with ultra sooper-behemoths CCC and TicketBastards and away we go.....
Seems though we have had several reports of Dave being in Vancouver recently....and I saw at least one interview or something where Ed was going to Vancouver to work on some new stuff or some crap....so perhaps they been already workin' on some shit....I know one thing...
Dey bees offully good about keepin dat lid shet tight on noos ob dere activities....
As I said, only way to find out is wait and see....
Their recent IPO attempt tanked and it is a smoke and mirrors show over there. Being that their release slate is unchartable and they have slashed the A&R budget 80% in the last year, of COURSE they would love to get some "perrenial" hitmakers like CVH going with a new release.
Being that they just WAYYYY overpaid for Bad Boy Records, it makes complete sense that they would do a new deal with a huge royalty rate just to get some chart action back in the next 12 months.
However, the real question is can ED/Dave work? Can Ed function?
I can't see why WB would still be interested in a band like VH. Comeback albums tend not to sell that well ie Iron Maiden, Judas Priest. It'd be a safer bet to try and sign someone lameass from American Idol and push the hellout of them.

I still think a reunited CVH would get a HUGE response.
But it has to be done right.
There has to be NO MENTION of Van Hagar, Sammy or anything from 1986-1995 and the god awful year that was 2004.
There has to be NO Van Hagar songs on a potential CVH tour, even if Mike were to sing just ONE.
This has to be CLASSIC VAN HALEN to the fullest.
Ads should run clips from the classic 84 vids, concert footage from the Oakland 81 show and the US Festival.
THEN AND ONLY THEN can the name "Van Halen" be restored to its 'original' glory.
And that can mean $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$..

Dude are you nuts? Were you born without a brain???
WB is SERIOUSLY interested in a CVH Reunion.
Why?
It would make WAY more than any idiot from AI.
CVH has a reputation (unlike ANYONE from AI) for selling millions of albums.
If there was a CVH Reunion, they could put tickets on sale for a tour and it would sellout IMMEDIATELY.
Talk about a great VH-1 Behind The Music Story....
The Motley Crue Reunion is NOTHING compared to a CVH Reunion...hell even the guys in Motley Crue would tell ya that! And their tour is selling out like a motherfucker!
More power to WB if they can convince Ed & Dave to get their freak on!
If a tour did happen I would make damn fucking sure I was at the first show cuz I dont think it would make it to my city before Ed starts smashing guitars on Daves head.

That's where Dave comes in, Vincenzo...
No way that Dave allows no press conferences before a reunion tour, as compared to last year's fiasco...
No way that Dave allows the only publicity to be a fucking newspaper advertisement in USA Today...
No way that Dave allows only a handful of interviews with the band DURING THE ENTIRE FUCKING TOUR....
Dave would milk it to the fullest extent... You wouldn't be able to look at anything in the press, be it music websites, rock radio, MTV, VH1, VH1 Classic without hearing about the return of the Mighty Van Halen... Even non-music stations like E! would jump all over it....
In addition, I would be absolutely fucking SHOCKED if any sniff of a Van Hagar were played.... I compare that to when you see the original lineup of KISS sing "Heaven's on Fire".... That dog ain't huntin'....
